well considering i paid 150 a month ago to get my head lights cleared i dont feel like paying another 150 to change the lenses........ but im kinda afraid if i order the 85122+bulbs it will be pointless without the zkw's ....i have an o5 tl and i doubt the stock bulbs have been changed since so mayb it would make a noticable difference

If the pictures in this thread haven't sold you on getting the luminosity of the 85122+ capsules over one of higher kelvin for the sake of color, than I don't know what will.

Ok, I am way confused so forgive me. I'll make this easy. What do I need to do to acheive this look/output for my headlights? Post 11 says
it is a Stock TL lens with 85122+ bulbs? Then the following pics are a stock S2K lens with 85122+ bulbs or an AP1 lens?

i just want to know if its really worth it gettin the bulbs with out the zkw lenses i already cleared my headlights so i dont want to pay another 150 just to change the lenses if it wont make that dramatic of a change id rather just buy the bulbs rater then going through the whole process of heating up the headlights

I have the same question. Is it worth upgrading the stock Osram bulbs to 85122+ while keeping the stock lenses? Thanks in advance.

Tough question. It depends on how much you value your light output. The 85122+ 4250k color and intensity make it much easier to see in the rain than the Osrams I pulled out of my '05 TL with 40k miles on it. Considering you have to remove the headlamps from the car to even install the bulbs, I'd say you're 50% there after all that work you've already spend taking the bumper off. But you'd be adding about 2-3 more hours to your process depending on how fast you can bake them and put them back together. Installing the 85122+ alone will make a very noticeable difference on its own though minus a razor sharp cutoff and some intensity.

My final results after installing ZKW replica / 85122+ :
Lowbeam

Highbeam

^^ Actually the pictures I posted on previous page was of my retrofitted headlights. They were installed on an 02 TL-S which comes with stock reflector based HID headlights. I retrofitted two projectors in each headlight hence the quad projectors. The main low beam was from a set of 04 TL projectors with real ZKW lenses and 85122+ bulbs (the projectors also provided hi beam), the auxiliary low beam was from a set of AP1 S2000 projectors. S2000 projectors come with clear lens from factory, the output pictures that you quoted in the above quote are indeed of S2000 projectors and not the TL.

Well the clear lens (Real ZKW or replica) would give you a sharp cut off, it has nothing to do with the intensity of the light. Light intensity is what you are shooting for with the 85122+ bulbs and a pair of those even in stock set up i.e. with stock fresnel lens would be a great upgrade over the shitty Osrams.
