does anyone know the full specs for engine and auto transmission for an '04 TL. how much boost the stock engine can take and how much can a stock transmission take and ect.

Boost can be high as 30 PSI on stock block and trany can hold up much as 750 WHP.

 

there are several turbo'd TL's.
libert found the limitation to the tranny at like 550-600whp.

 

The auto holds up well at the 400whp level with a couple basic mods (new switches and type F fluid). Stock bottom holds up well at that power level as well but the tune has to be spot on, no detonation. Tons of information in the turbo thread. If you plan on throwing a turbo on it and not monitoring knock, you'll probably blow it at the 300hp level. Tune is everything.

 

I don't think its worth it.

Well it started out on a stormy night in Nevada when I got the bright idea to spend the money on a supercharger, PCD, and gut my exhaust. My transmission blew 12,000 miles later trying to breach that 300HP ceiling even after swapping out the pressure switches and doing the ATF drain and fill every other oil change with Redline fluid. Now my rebuilt transmission is having issues. So if you still want more power I'll sell you my supercharger for a really good price. PM if interested. [drops microphone and walks off stage]
