one of my employees has an 06 sentra spec v and has been wanting to race my tl. he thinks cause he's gotta 6 spd he will eat me alive. haha

this kid needs to learn his launches and how to drive. we launch at a light (on an uphill incline) and he just dumps the clutch, sitting spinning. i had VSA off and launched revving at about 3500rpm, good launch, broke them loose a little, but took him for a loop.

now he doesn't underestimate the tl, he drools. makes me proud to prove people wrong.

Well he doesn't really know Accords then, because the 7th Gen Accord is only a tenth slower than the TL. And the '08 Accord coupe is actually quicker than the TypeS.

yea, 14s@102.x mph for the Accord 6MT. Apparently that's the fastest stock Honda in the States.

TL-S is 14.1@101mph. So, technically, the AV6 is faster than the TL-S, unless someone can do faster than that, which is possible.

 

Technically, I have a faster stock Honda.

That's not surprising when you consider the source. Edmunds is not a performance oriented car entity by any stretch. They're more akin to Consumer Reports. They ease the clutch out and take their time shifting, as evidenced by all their numbers. Did you happen to notice though, that their trap speed was 101.6 mph? That's the true indicator of a car's power and I've yet to see a Type-S hit it, although other mags have hit 102+ in the Accord. Believe me, I don't like it any more than you do, but it is what it is.

 

^^^well i've taken a 6mt accord coupe and i was stock (and 5AT) so i really don't believe the mags too much...i still think the 6mt tls can take a 6mt accord coupe 99/100 times..my

Having driven the 6MT Accord sedan and 3G TL 5AT, a well driven AV6 6MT should make short work of a stock TL 5AT. Now owning a 5AT AV6 and having had several run ins with base TL 5AT, AT vs AT is even.

Back on topic, the Spec V ranks 2nd (behind the tC) as seeming to have the most drivers with chips on their shoulders. A well driven R18 Civic 5MT would give him good run.

 

Yeah, i'm pretty sure a stock 6MT AV6 will beat a 5AT TL....probably not a TL-S though. I raced my friends 03' AV6 5at, pulled about two cars on him with just an intake and my 17's on. He also has an intake and runs 93 octane gas for the 10 extra HP or something.

 

Now watch, sentra boy goes and gets a 75 shot of gas and gives you a run for your gas money, better check it before you race him again lol. With a 75 shot, you'll be seeing low 14's from him most likely.

 

The guy in the 6MT needs driving lessons if you beat him in your 5AT. The 7th gen Accord 6MT is a faster car than your TL.

 

It may be faster than a regular 3rd gen, but I doubt it'll take out a TL-S.

 

Don't sleep on those ugly jelly bean Sentras too much. If the driver is decent, they can be decently quick. A friend of mine use to have a 170ho Sentra SE-R (non Spec V) with a hacked airbox and header. That car wound up doing 14.6s@94mph with impressive upper 2.0 60 foots. He later bought a Nismo Spec V which included Brembos, header, cams, intake, suspension, and 17" Nismo rims. That car did 14.5s and he was greatly dissappointed in it. I think he could have done better if if had gotten an ECU flash to raise the rev limiter slightly. No matter how you cut it though, they're damn ugly cars.

 

It won't take out a TL-S 6mt but it is a faster car than the TL-S 5AT. Those 6MT 7th gens have hit 14.2 stock and I know a 5AT TL-S is a mid-high 14 second car.

 

Bearcat 94 has run 14.30's with a stock Type-S 5AT. IMO, the TL 6MT, TypeS 5AT and 7th Accord 6MT are all so close, it's not even worth arguing. It's going to be a driver's race among the three. The Accord does have a major disadvantage without an LSD.

 

They are all very close. Its always going to be a drivers race. Having LSD is a big plus. The Accord 6MT still manages to put down 2.0-2.2 60ft times without LSD. A guy named MickAV6 put down a 2.08 60ft stock on his 04 AV6 6MT.

 

^ and that's pretty much the reason why I think the TL-S 6MT should be able to run faster..but too bad it can't be proven now.

 

You cant take the fastest time ever recorded in the 1/4 mile in the Accord and compare it to a single guy here. Its just dumb to do that

 

That's pretty impressive.. So with a CAI, exhaust,pulley,test pipe and j-pipe i think we could see high 13's on a 3g type-S Auto..

 

Its not dumb to do it. Nothing wrong with posting the fastest times of any car. That will give you a idea of what the car is capable of if used to its full potential.

14.3 is pretty impressive for a 5AT TL-S stock.

 

A TL-S 6MT is faster than a 7th gen AV6 6MT. It can probobly hit high 13's stock at best in a perfect scenario.

 

Ugly cars, those Sentras, but that 6 speed is rival to any manual Honda I've EVER driven, and they are extremely fun to drive...my ex wife owned a 2004 Cloud White Spec V for a stint before her sister "inherited" it...I picked on A3/A4 chassis VR6 Jettas and Golfs for fun. Only mod was canister and piping.
