A spec questions
A spec questions
How do you know if your car is a true "A-Spec"? My 05 TL has the ground effects and the lip spoiler bud is there a code in the vin or something that will let me know if mine is a true "A-Spec" or not?
I'm not positive, but I dont think it would be in the VIN
Aspec was a dealer installed option so it would have been installed after the VIN was issued.
There are some dealers that only chose to install certain aspec pieces and not the whole package.
check the springs/struts, brake pads, steering wheel, skirts and rims (obviously). If its got all of those, chances are its a full aspec from the dealer. Not too many people will go as far as to replace the steering wheel or brake pads.

The wheels are five-spoke, with slots through them. Much better looking than stock, IMO.

As for the steering wheel, I have no idea. Two-tone area on the button areas?

Well...I have an 04 and I too wondered. When my stepdad got the car it wasn't even called Aspec...it was the "sport package" but listed all the things including suspension/rims/aero kit w/lip or trunk spoiler and no performance mods. I've changed my suspension and I didn't see anything denoting A Spec shocks/springs. I also do NOT have an A spec badge on the back.

Easy way to tell is the steering wheel, as posted by the pics above. From exterior, look for the lip spoiler, body kit and wheels. Hard to tell a dealer Aspec from a clone though. Impossible if the person adds every component.

Mine doens't look like that...but I KNOW it is an actual aspec cause I was there when my stepdad originally bought it. My steering wheel is not like that and I don't have the aluminum pedals.
what makes the car a true spec is all the aspec components. body kit suspension rims n steering wheel. or if u have the body kit its close enough. the dealer doesnt issues anything special for the car except the aspec badge on the back....but thats 22$ so its not special. lol

Without bothering him, anyone know what the pedals run?

I guess given the care a lot of dealer installers put into doing things, it wouldn't really matter to me who installed it. I'd never seen the blue stitching though.
About mine...I guess I KNOW it's a true one cause I'm the one that picked it out of the showroom for my stepdad 5 years ago. It was the only one that stood apart and it was gorgeous!
