A-spec package on 04-06

hey guys, new to the forums, looks like its a real nice forum with a lot of members. im looking in to a TL, i actually found a GREAT deal, 23k for a 05 loaded TL, stick...i was wondering whats the deal with the A-Spec, is it only on some years? i read up on some differences, if someone could elaborate that would be great. if i buy a TL i wanna get the best without buying new (or id get the type S)...i look on autotrader.com and cant seem to find too many a-specs, are they rare?

Thanks for the help in advance. Chris

Please use the search feature. Basically, A-Spec is an upgrade package that includes: wheels, suspension, body lip kit, and a few other things. You have the option of buying these separately and installing them later if you like. It can be a lot cheaper that way too.

It really depends on what you want from the A-spec kit, meaning looks, handling or both.

I did not care for the look of the body kit but wanted to improve the handling so I only upgraded the suspension. Cost was $600 for the suspesnsion and $400 for the dealer to intall it.

You could also add the 18" rims, body kit and steering wheel if you want.

I am looking to sell mine. PM me if you want more details.

John

well i found a good write up on it, how is the suspension system? is it worth it for the extras, id rather put my own rims on it and own tires.

The suspension is a mild drop, about 0.5" front/rear. It's conservative, meant to maintain the ride quality. If you want to go lower, go with Eibach, TEIN, or other aftermarket springs.

The suspension definately stiffins the ride and improves the handling over the stock suspension. I'm not sure about the other extras, for me the suspension was a sufficent upgrade.

My TL is an 05 with navigation and 6 speed manual transmission. Satin Silver Metallic with Ebony interior.

I bought it in Janary 2005 and it has about 18,500 miles. I added the A-spec suspension in January 2006 and still have the old stock suspension as well. The car has been garaged since I've had it.

The car was in an accident in November 2006. The front bumper, hood and front fenders were damaged. Airbags did not deploy because the speed at impact was under 15 mph. I can provide copies of all the repair invoices as well.

I am located in St. Louis.

I got the full a spec kit for my vehicle.
I had the wheels and body kit done last week and the suspension should be ready in about an hour and a half for pick up.

The full aspec kit that I got was the
A-Spec Wheels
Full front, side, and rear body kit
Deck lid spoiler
Full suspension and brake upgrade... they even did SS brake lines for me
A Spec emblem as well as the steering wheel.

Cost was definitely cheaper than I anticipated. Since I did a all in one package including a dealer discount since I work for a car dealership.

However I'm not going to disclose the final price.

As long as you don't get tires from them for the kit you will save money.

Tonight I'm putting on the CAI.

I'm excited!

hmm good stuff guys, i'm lookingfor a black TL, you can get the A spec package done to like an 05 right now? anyone know what it would cost roughly?

Like i said im completely new to the acuras, love them, but havent drove one or looked at them very long, i don't want my car looking cheesy with real low suspension, but want it more aggressive, anything special with the steering wheel?

and the brakes, aren't they only for automatics? im looking for a 6 speed.

Whats the general sentiment for the aspec package, do most go and outright buy it, or do they pick the features they want and do em themselves?
