A-Spec Emblem

ok, my service manager is giving me a free A-spec emblem for my TL.

Here's the catch, I only have the Wing Spoiler and Underbody Kit...would it be ok to have the emblem on at this point...or would I look like an ass? I am not planning to buy the steering wheel, and considering some other rims...

Thanks for your opinion.

Do you have the suspension? If not, don't put it on. The suspension is what makes the difference to me.

Technically, the suspension & the steering wheel are the only two unique aspects of the A-Spec package. That's just my opinion.

It's your car, you can do as you please...

put it on if you want to. you technically can since your underbody spoilers and wing spoiler is also part of the aspec kit.

I'd say no. I had a friend with an A6 who made it look like an RS6. No fuctional parts were changed. He stuck the RS6 badge on the front grill and everything. Needless to say he took alot of shit.

The nerve of that guy putting it on if he doesn't have the suspension. He is just cheapening it for the rest of us!

I think you can get that badge on ebay for $2 anyways, so why not put it on.

I don't have an A-spec, but personally would not put any "upmarket" badges on my car unless I could back it up. But as everyone else says, it's your car, so you can do it if you want.

To me it would be like buying a bimmer 325 then putting a 330i badge on the back.

Note: The instructions for the suspension install actually include the positioning of the emblem.

Its like 50/50,

Hey Scribesoft, I know what you mean...I see too many "M" emblems on bimmers that are not even an M series.

Well is the A-spec suspension worth it or should I go out and buy something else? I probably can get the A-spec suspension pretty cheap.

I didn't put the A-spec emblem on my car until I had my rims, suspension, and steering wheel put on (all A-spec). I just felt that it wouldn't really be an A-spec...just my opinion.

Kinda reminds me of Jeremy Pivens' character on "Entourage"...he bought his wife an Mercedes S430 and put the S600 and V12 emblems on!

Not that I would give it a moment of thought if I saw your car,,,,, but...

Given the fact you felt compelled to "ask" for other TL/ASPEC owners perspectives, my guess is you're hesitating - for good reason too. Being a life long car lover, re-badging a vehicle to attempt to make it something its not is just plain poor automotive educate.
My suggestion would be to leave your car as is, true to yourself and others (no ASPEC badge). It's just more professional, and you will get more justifiable praise for not having it than with it.

Like most have said though, it's your car and who are we to judge. But like many things in life, why try to misrepresent...?

Cheers

I don't put anything on my car even if I do have all the gear. I really like it stealth.

If Comptech comes out with the supercharger someday and I get it, I would not look for a Comptech or Supercharger sticker to put on. That's just asking all the idiots in town to come out of the woodwork at every red light.

I'd rather have my car "appear" like it's stock... then when an idiot happens to cross my path, I can let him wipe my a$$ and think to himself "Holy S&!^ are those TL's fast!" and just give the look of confusion.

The more things you stick on the car, the more people will want to test you.

Your call...personally, I have the body kit and suspension with no badge...I'd only put the badge on if I had the brakes, wheels, and steering wheel, too (ie, the full kit). Again, that's me...you gotta do what you gotta do...

cut the badge in half, and only put on half. this will signify that you have some but not all a-spec parts.

If it's free, then you should put it on, who cares what others think. It won't make your car looks ricey or in anyway "bad".
Just my opinion.

Are you saying that since it's half ass then put "A-S" only? And put on the "PEC"er half later on when it's complete?

Many of the Asians in the Bay Area resent your comment. The Member's Only jacket looked cool with Angels Flight pants! At least it did in 1980/81. LOL!

I own 04 ASPEC I don't have a problem with you putting on the badge. The person I question is the Acura service manager who would give out these badges to people when he knows their TL's are not true ASPEC's.

As long as you have something A spec on your car then its cool with me.
But putting it on with nothing is no different then driving around with a bunch or stickers with no sponsers or any of the products. Im thinking of going with the Aspec drop and best believe that emblem is going on the back. I'll hold out a little long for another lip kit at the moment.

this htread reminded me a true story. a guy bought one of those rare E500s back then ( you know that limited edition with the porsche engine in it) and changed the badge to E300. he ran up and down the highway and kicked every E300's ass. So one of his friend who owned a E300 asked him about how he moded his E300 to make it go so fast. he replied - no mod before the rear axle. This answer BTW caused his friend to try every known E300 mufflers that's out there for 2 months but still got his ass kicked.
