Speaking of rattle fixes

Here's an easy one. On certain types of grooved pavement I'd hear a vibration/rattle coming from the steering wheel area. It turned out to be nothing more than the cruise control steering wheel mounted switch having a bit too much play. All it needs is a thin piece of material (paper, whatever) inserted in any of the gaps to remove some of the free play. Rattle gone. It's surprising that the noise actually came from something so small in this area.

If you hear this type of noise, simply put your thumb on the switch to see if the noise disappears.

Ken7, when I had taken my car in for A1 service there was a guy who had exactly same problem and they fixed by installing some felt to the cruise control button on the steering.

Glad my hearing sucks - I'd never notice it.
