Well, it looks like eBay has them for about $30 +. Getting it cut won't be a problem, but you will still have to get it programmed for your immobilizer. Many locksmiths don't have that equipment because it can be expensive, but you might get lucky. FYI, they won't be cheap either, because they would have to pay for the expensive equipment that allows them to do it.
$105 seems like a lot, but I've heard of much worse.

Save yourself a headache and go to the dealer, when i bought my car it had only 1 key and i ended up spending almost $300 at the dealer for a new key and key fob programmed but it was extremely important to have that second key for me so i didnt mind coughing up that amount.

I had 5 keys programmed for 75 at my locksmith. Just ask them if they can program your car. It's just a laptop program.

Reminds me, I need to get a spare key for my CR-V. I'll use a local locksmith.

When I bought my car it only came with one key from the previous owner. I just didn't want the possibility to be left outside and keys locked inside.

I went to Lowes, got a "dumb key" cut for $2.00 it opens the car, it doesn't have any chip on it so won't start it. I also bought a remote transmitter for driver 1 from ebay ~$10 and then programmed it with instructions found here on Acurazine.

If you want a key that starts your car and has a cloned chip from your original... the cheapest option I found was ACE's hardware store for $70. I also called Acura dealers around Houston but those were around the prices you are listing, maybe even more expensive. It depends on what you want and need.

Yeah - I asked at the dealer and was quoted some crazy number - so I got two "dumb" keys for $7.00.

I got 2 transponder keys from Rachel autosport for, I believe $9 each. I got two and the locksmith couldn't get the key properly cut on one of them. I emailed Rachel and she sent me 4 more keys. So I had the locksmith program those and cut also. I am never without a spare key now! Oh I almost forgot-Rachel is on eBay. I will look on eBay and try to link it here.

You have to see if your local locksmith does programming. They all can cut the keys but not all can program them to your vehicle. I went two towns over for my locksmith.

Ok, the person I bought it from doesn't carry it anymore. I found this instead http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-pcs-New-Honda-Transponder-Key-Blank-Ignition-Chip-46-Free-Shipping-w-Tracking-/221205031755?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AAcura%7CModel%3ATL&hash=item3380d8eb4b&vxp=mtr. $10.50 each is the breakdown. Cutting the keys is the worst part of it, sometimes it just is off ever so slightly. Programming the key doesn't matter if it's 1 key or 100. If the locksmith has the program, it really is a 5 minute procedure.

Good deal BUT if the car has 2 drivers like mine then a dumb key doesnt do much because my wife has the original key and fob and id only have the dumb key that doesnt start the car so id still have to ask her for her key.

i didnt think of ace hardware i wouldnt mind shelling out 70 bucks

the main reason for this key is not to be used as a spare but as a key in the car for autostart

I have a friend who had a couple "dumb" keys cut, then he just taped the "smart" key under the plastic around the steering column so the chip from the key is near the ignition and the "dumb" keys work to start the car. Maybe not a smart idea in a high crime area, not really sure how much that would help out a would be thief...

That doesn't make since tho if he had the good key why use dumb keys

Ok so from the little research I have done this is anybody's best option

Avoid Internet sites since there not certain u might be stuck with a bill and a dead key I usually shop eBay but ima avoid it this time

Second buy a key from acura here in Austin tx there selling for 63 bucks the dealer near my house will program it for extra 63

I called ace hardware since someone mentioned it here they actually do it for 70 but I want an actual acura key so I'm buy it from dealer and the guy at ace told me he would program it for free too bad they close at 6 and I'm working

Because he only had one key and wanted spares in case one was lost, and one for the wife. Same reason I assume most want more than one key.

Tell your installer to use a different bypass. It'll be cheaper and safer in the long run. Look into modules made by iDataLink (FlashLogic, OmegaLink, ADS), or Fortin. They clone the keye using data instead of another key.

The store is going to program it free of charge??? I tried that when doing my research but they told me they couldn't do it, it had to be a key purchased and programmed in store.

Also...for $36+shipping here if you can wait but personally I'd run to the store and take advantage of the free programming service. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACURA-OEM-FACTORY-BLANK-IMMOBILIZER-KEY-2004-2006-TL-2004-2008-TSX-/190857617187?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AAcura&hash=item2c70001f23&vxp=mtr

I need to get everybody onboard with Honda HDS.

$100 for programming is absurd. It takes a few mins to program the key. Porsche in Houston charges $60 for key programming and their labor cost is $140/hr. Honda labor rate is anywhere from $75 to $110 around Houston.

i had experience. cheapest way would be buy the transponder key on ebay ( i got two for $16). then bring the keys to the dealer and my dealer charged me $56 dollars to cut and program both keys.

or go to home depot to cut yourself a spare key for $2. it will lock/unlock your car in case of emergency ( lock your key and remote in the trunk, believe it or not i have done it before). it just can't turn your car on.

hope this help

If you could charge $1000 to program a key in 5 minutes and get away with it, wouldn't you?

That's how business works, unfortunately.
