Sony Ericsson z600

Hey guys,
Well I think I finally found the phone I want. It's the Sony Ericsson z600. My question is, does anyone here have one that they didn't purchase through a service provider/agreement (i.e. T-mobile). I ask this because I have AT&T right now and where I'm at we don't have T-mobile service available. So, since AT&T is a GSM network, I should be able to buy this phone (unlocked, of course) and continue my service through AT&T, right?

If anyone has done this, not particularly with the z600, but with any GSM phone NOT purchased through a contract agreement, and then hooked it up through AT&T or any other GSM network providers, could you share your experience? I just want to know if they give you crap about not having a phone through them or is it easy to hook it up. I only ask here because I don't want to sit on AT&T's s*$*y customer service line for 45 minutes to ask.

Last question: If you have a z600 and didn't buy it thru T-mobile, etc., where did you buy it/ how much did you pay? I found a website advertising the phone for $349 and was wondering if anyone has been able to beat that price (w/out the discount a service provider would give for signing up). Ok, I think that's it. Thanks for any and all help.

I purchased a Sony Ericsson P800 from a website, I already had service throught Tmobile. I just popped my SIM card in and it worked instantly. I don't think you'll have any trouble, and the provider doesn't really care, although if you ask a rep they may give you some BS. I've had no problems whatsoever.
However, I'm looking at a Z600 now as well since my P800 won't work with the TL. Where did you find it for 349? That's a good price.
Here's some of the sites I've checked.
http://www.gsmphonesource.com (warning, you gotta unlock it yourself)

http://www.expansys.us (they have everything)

I've purchased unlocked phones without a contract. All you do is pop your SIM card in, and it works.

You should then get your provider's (in your case ATTWS) gprs data settings and make the changes on your phone. This is so MMS, internet and any data services work properly.
