I check every used car by looking at the main frame for any bent, rush, or welding. Also check the most common areas for over paint as its a sign of major repairs. There is nothing wrong with buying a car with an "accident" history. If the car's allignment checks out fine with a printout of the toes and shoes, the allignment is perfectly fine. I stay clear of salvage or flooded. I bought a lot of cars with history of accidents and never had any issues. I bought a 2000 Accord back in 2005 with a fender bender (air bags deploy) and have once had any issues in the 5 years of ownership. Also bought a 2002 S2000 with 120,000 miles with 2 accidents and it was perfectly fine driving 8,000RPM daily until the seats were stolen. DOnt rule out cars with accidents if its still perfect and can get it dirt cheap. I bought my S2000 for $7,000 out the door at a dealer with KBB +$12,000.

yes...if you dont care about the title just get the fucking car...check the whole thing over and if everything checks out good then buy it...
this car is good for someone who plans on keeping it for a while.
i totally agree with you i bought my 05 TSX in sept of 2005 for $17k with 547 miles on it..it was in a minor accident and after everything was fix you couldnt even tell the car was ever hit.
it just comes down to personal preferences...im all about saving money plus its not like the car has "salvaged" spray painted all over it
if i didnt buy my CPO TL-S i would of bought the one in the listing

Buying a car that's been in an accident can be either a dream or a nightmare. Take for example a 3 series that my buddy bought. The woman who owned it before rear ended someone in a parking lot and carfax (believe it or not) had it as in an accident. The woman then sold it to my buddy at an unbelievable price since she was one of those folks that wanted PERFECT items. He picked it up from the bodyshop, saw all the work done to it and now has almost 60k on it, chipped and everything from dinan, etc.
BUT then you have cars that have been flooded severely and are sold after they ''dry out''. These can be a nightmare as many of the electronics cost more to replace than the car is worth.

i had to do this when the body shop lost the key to the TSX we tracked down the person that got into the accident with the TSX and she turned out to be a 34yr old teacher who got into an accident while pulling out of a dunkin donuts (which explained the coffee stains on the floor mat when i bought the car lol)
long story short just find out as much info as you could because buying a salvaged car it has no manufacture warranty

its either hit or miss...i would do some research and even try tracking the old owners who had the car to see what was going on..

It could have been stolen and dumped in a lake. The salvage title is a dead end trail from what I've heard. You don't know what caused the "total loss". There is one repair facility in the local area that has had several TL's with salvaged titles. If a vehicle is stolen, the insurance company pays out and the title is (I assume invalidated) no longer assigned to that vehicle or whatever. A repair facility can then buy the car at Police auction (or wherever) once recovered and rebuild it. Sometimes the interior is partly or completely removed. If that's all it was then it might be a good deal. If it was dumped in a lake then the eventual errosion of components due to the time in the water will cause ongoing expensive repairs.
