Solar Sensing Climate Control in Navi Cars

Just a tid bit of info.
I tested the solar sensing climate control in my Navi car (others have asked if it really works or was a gimmick in other posts).
I was coming home from an off site test and had some equipment with me including a digital temperature indicator that measures the temperatures of the tips of thermocouple wire that I had used that day.
Anyway, I placed a thermocouple in a vent on the left and right sides of the car and set the read out to show the difference of the two (i.e. it automatically subtracts temp 1 from temp 2), and yes there was a difference depending on what side of the car the sun was on.
If the sun was on the right or left side of the car, the temperature difference was about 3 degrees lower on the sun side. It is pretty quick to respond as was indicated in long overpasses, the temps became almost equal before exiting back into the sun.
If the sun was in front or behind, the temps were the same. As expected, at night, they were the same also.
Conditions outside were sunny, not overcast and about 35 degrees (so the heat was on) . Not sure if it would be less of a variance or no variance in temps if it were slightly overcast.
I guess that answers the question about if it works or not
PS - For those who thought I was not paying attention to driving while doing this, the digital read out was located on top of the steering column, so I did not have to look away from the road.

Yes, it is working. My previous 10 days trip had approved the system is working ok. However, your tech-like examination provides more details and authentication to ppl. I guess no one listened to me at that time. They need something like this to convince themselves.
Well done.

From the Owners Manual:
....
On models with navigation system
In AUTO mode, the vehicle’s interior
temperature is independently
regulated for the driver and
passenger. If the driver’s side of the
vehicle is getting too much sun, the
system will adjust to a lower

very nice..i guess our hands arent sensitive enough to feel the temperature differences, we have to use a thermometer to confirm. i feel that the AC system in the TL is pretty good, i set it at 69 F AUTO usually and no matter what time or temperature outside, i always feel pretty comfortable inside
