So long TL

Just traded my 05 ABP 6mt for an 07 A4 2.0T Quattro SLine, and I love it! The down side is that it only has 200hp w/ 207 ft-lbs of torque. But once I chip it, it should be at 260hp w/ 303 ft-lbs of torque. Can't wait to have the same power as the TL again plus more pull off the line.

I never really posted much here but got a lot of good reading from the posts. I'll still drop by now and then to stay up to date on TL stuff.

Thanks Acurazine!!!

Adious....

I did the same move a few years ago. And regreted it. I had a 03 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro. Slow, even with the GIAC chip. Car had electrical issues left and right but it was a nice looking car.

Give a side by side comparo between the two vehicles, likes & dislikes, pros & cons, that sort of thing.

See ya. Good luck with the new car. I too would be interested in a side-by-side comparison.

Regards.

first of all, u won't be able to increase that much with only a chip upgrade.
2.0T is still a small turbo on a heavy car. I sold my B6 Audi to TL and the only thing i can regret A4 to TL is Quattro. Other than AWD system on the Audi, TL is better in every aspect.

Like pimpin-tl mentioned, audi has alot of problems. 2.5 years of ownership, i went to the dealership to fix my car over 20 times.

To be honest, i would never purchase another Audi. cuz it will cost you arm and a leg after your 50,000 warranty is over. That's why you will see so many Audi's for sale at 40k-50k mile range.
But when you lease the car, you can definately benefit and save yourself a lot of headache.

attractive, very safe car, fun to drive, quattro will take you anywhere in the snow; but not reliable.
my old ride...

Make friends with the service department you'll see them more than your car.

Yeah, I was having doubts myself in terms of the power gain. I probably heard wrong. Oh well, after chipping i'll see how much is gained. Nice B6 btw and sorry to hear you had so many problems with it. Hopefully i'll have better luck.

In terms of comparison, I think the A4's got a better ride/handle, and I like the look and interior of the car and have always wanted one. The TL's got a lot more kick for sure and a much roomier interior.

Funny to see the gas prices in the second pic -- $1.33 per gallon!! Those were the days!

The new A4 is a nice car, the 2.0T FSI is the same engine being used in the VW Passat and GTI. Overall your going to find the motor lacking with Quattro, the 3.6L is a much stronger engine and more suited. VW doesnt' even offer the Passat with 2.0T 4 Motion, I can't believe Audi does. Another thing no DSG, only can get that with the GTI with this motor is a good combo. If you really want to get some power out of the engine, your looking at some serious money, HPA Motorsports is making a serious turbo upgrade for a price.

You can get the A3 with the 2.0T and DSG I test drove it it is one fun car to throw around. Unfortunately when you get the options on it that you would like it gets very pricy, and I have not really ever been able to trust the reliability of an Audi after owning one years ago

Yes the A3 is based on the VW Mk V Golf/GTI Chassis reason why is the transverse engine layout. DSG isn't yet available for the longitunidal layout of the A4.

The new S3 is real nice.

Sad but true the A3 and A4 are very small inside and yes reliability is always rearing it's ugly head.

According to Consumer Reports, electrical problems are plaguing MANY German cars nowadays with Beamers being the biggest offenders.

Absolutely true about BMW. They can't seem to get their arms around their electrical gremlins.
