Did a dig run with a 12' FBO 135i 6MT w/ JB4. I had a 230lb passenger but even without him, the outcome wouldn't have changed. Third gear is where he inflicts the most damage.

I love the E90 335i but ^^ is where my temptation to get a well cared for use one ends. (In this segment, the G37 is probably a safer alternative.)

Old reps die hard the 1 & 3 series are get good marks by Consumer Reports who used to tank them while some Honda cars are now off their recommended buy list.
My personal experience is 2004 330ci sold at 125K miles with $1100 out of pocket. The other 3 are still under warranty but no major issues to date.

Don’t have enough mileage 17/18K to confirm or deny that. The early 335’s had a crappy low pressure fuel pump that really hit its reliability hard. A new pump was swapped in for part of the 2010 model year & looks to have killed the problem.
Both the pump & turbos have extended warranties on them as a good faith item. Mine has had the JB4 on it since 1,500 miles & so far so good with about an 80whp delta over the stock baseline.
That being said an honest PPI & a CPO is a really good idea on any used car.

We'll see how the F30 pans out. Stock, the N55 is supposedly a bit quicker than the N54 after 100 mph. As it stands now I'll probably go with the G37 sedan next. With what I've got done to the TL, the G would probably be an easy 13 flat car; still quick enough to have fun with. I still love the E90 335 though. Lots of people bash the interior, but I love the old school, simplistic layout more than the G.

I could live with either model easily. I really like the Infiniti G's ergonomics and dash layout, but I also respect BMW's all business approach in these two areas.
It could just be my Japanese car bias (which I'll admit to but not apologize for) but, I would feel just a bit more peace of mind when it comes to the reliability of the Infiniti over the BMW....CPO on the latter notwithstanding.

My 99 M3 runs like a champ, & I beat it to death from cornering to taking it up to 150 almost every day, couldn't say the same with my Integra. One thing I can do with my Teggy is run that thing with little to no oil for months, my s52 would blow up ten times over if I tried that.

Acura except for first generation are all junk poor quality. I've seen countless number of transmission failure on 2nd and 3rd gen TL.... 2nd and 3rd gear synchro crap issue on manual transmission too. RSX is built poorly as well. If you want good built Acura look for the 80's and 90's model. I didn't say only BMW's suck, most cars suck except for Lexus and Mazdaspeed3...

Mine is an 6MT just past break-in. Trying to get a feel for it now. Definitely not as quick as the 335is but way more agile.

The N54 engine is a pure twin turbo motor that runs higher boost than the N55 engine's single twin scroll turbo in the 135i. The confusion is that BMW advertises them both as twin power turbo.
The bottom line is the N54 is much easier to tune than the N55 so even with the same aftermarket tune the 335is is stronger. All things being equal the 7DCT in either car is quicker than its siblings 6MT. My 335is is a 7DCT & the 135is is a 6MT.

Wow.. didn't know that. I've always assumed it was the same plant.
