Sneek peek at my fog relocation mod.

Time put in already 6 hours

Theres not much of a write up I can say what wire went where. I bought a complete oe honda 03-04 foglight set.

When you look at it you have 2 different harness. One for the fogs the other for the switch. Now my switch turns on when I have my parking light on and functions 100% as would if it was on a factory accord.

FROM THE FOG LIGHT HARNESS:

::Ground to ground.

:: On the BROWN connector there are 2 wires one is a solid green. That solid green must go to the SOLID green wire on the fog switch.

::In-line fuse goes to the fuse box to a 10mm screw which has 12volt power, I forgot right now what wire on the harness goes to it.

FROM THE SWITCH
::Ground to ground

::Solid red to ground

::RED/BLACK and SOLID blue tap into parking light wire

::Green wire from fogs tap into green wire from switch.

Thats it kiddos its that simple and your done with the wiring. Here are my pics. I am 80% done with one fog.

I do have hids in them and they are 3000k yellow just its hard to pick it up in the pic.

My brother wants me to do it on his. I really dread doing this again, but I will def help you with all the wiring, then leave the fogs install up to you. It takes about 2-3 hours per side to install a fog and its never perfect. I still have a lot to do for tomorrow in a small time frame.

wow... so do you have 4 functional fog lights now? I have the complete 07 Typs S front mod and I hook up the new lower mount fog lights with the original integrated fog lights. Does the Hid fog light create less heat than the hologen fog? nice work

I am using 35 watt hid bulbs. They will not burn the lens.

I just got back home and let me tell you, just that one fog did an amazing job. Yes I have 2 sets of fogs on my car now. Fully functioning. If you look inside my car you couldn't tell if its O.E fogs or not. They light up at night and tell me when the fogs are on. If everyone follows my wiring setup they would be set. The wiring is the easiest job, its the cutting and fitting the worse.

Are there any cutting/splicing involved? Also are the foglight lens plastic or glass?

I would assume plastic since he was talking about the lenses burning from the HID bulbs

awesome info i might consider install the HID fog now if it doesn't heat up like the original halogen bulb... more question... does the HID bulbs draw more current or power than the halogen bulb? does it take more wattage? the reason I ask is because I'm running both set of fog lights from the same original wire... the wires were spliced and shared on these fog lights... Thanks

Here is my setup.... an old pic...

Answers for Questions:

These are O.E honda accord fogs, I think they are made of hard plastic or at least way better than the ones on ebay.

I decided to go with hids because they sell 35 watt kit which is less than factory lights and 75 watt kits which arent really worth it and will melt something.

My friend helped me out here with cutting because I just suck at it, but there is a lot of time involved with cutting the lower air grill pieces and cutting the plastic trim that holds the fog.

The fogs I got are 03-05 4 door accord.

psheu I wouldn't know, but I do know that the 35 watt hit kit draws less than the regular lights, in theory if its less watts the bulb itself would be cooler then lets say a 75 watt bulb.

Splicing is only done in 1 spot on our factory harness, everything else is from the accord switch, and you need to run that solid green wire from the brown connector back to the fog light switch. Look at my pictures to get an idea.

Good work, looks clean... but,
I have never understood this mod.

Due to the curvature of the TL bumper those lenses point at 45 degrees from the front of the car... They add littel to know usable light, and I think it looks really bad at night to have fogs pointing outboard... Kinda like a hot girl with a lazy eye.

Secondly, 35W HIDs have an "influx" voltage of 60+ watts when you turn em on... I'm suprised you haven't blown a fuse. I installed a set of these on my wife's Odyssey, and the 10A fuse popped every time I turned em on. I even put a 15A fuse in (against my good judgement), same thing. I'd keep an eye on this.

Third, those little lenses are VERY prone to glare with HID retro kits. You will certainly be blinding oncoming traffic with them, even with them point way down (oh yeah, you can't adjust them... ).

Hey Gus... Looks very clean.... GREAT Job.... Just finish and let it shine thru any FOG...

Hey Kennedy... you're RIGHT about the "influx" of the voltage/amperage when the HID ballasts are starting up... however, most people including myself use a relay to get power directly from battery... so that NO FACTORY wiring is used to power them bad boys... the factory wiring are only used as triggers... if you know what I mean...

PS: GUS... I don't like the placement of the HID Ballasts... I think you should move them directly under the headlights... it's the clear (horizontal) area right above where you have the ballasts mounted (vertically) right now ... you can see it perfectly in your picture - the fit perfect there.... just clean the area with Alcohol and use double sided tape to mount them... I think that where you have them now... it's a great possibility you can get water damage... you know.... just my opinion...

Go to
http://www.handa-accessories.com/accext03.html

Scroll down to where you see the fogs
click on add to cart, then click on the 2nd option which is 03-04 4 DOOR ACCORD.

You will need about 6-7 wire taps
You will need an in-line fuse
You might need a new set of lower grill pieces, I ordered mine but didn't need to use them
Some longer wiring
Hid kit 35 watt setup thats only if you want to install hids
New double sided tape to fix the front lip because you will need to remove so of it to do this job.

Everything ran me about 400 bucks
::Fogs
::Hid kit
::wire taps, in-line fuse, some longer wiring
::2 lower grill pieces
:: Double sided tape

You will need some simple tools to do the job, but guessing you have everything and only asking whats involved with wiring and fogs. You will need something to cut the fog-light plastic housing trim and the lower grill pieces. You are going to cut inside the bumper as well. They look like pockets behind the grill pieces. Its very much involved.

35 watt hid bulbs are cooler compaired to stock bulbs. Yes the lens will still get hot but not as hot as stock bulbs. There are other members on this website that have done this mod and I believe are running hids. So far nobody ran into a problem. I did have to trim the platic legs on the hid bulb so that it fit into the housing. I know others had the same problem. I used some gasket maker and sealed up the back side so nothing gets inside the lens.

2nd off this mod isnt really for function. YES it will light up the road, but no it wont be as good as an 07 fog system. We mod our cars to our liking because we want to look different from the rest or at least better than stock. I know so many people on this forum that want to do the same mod but its like a 50/50 some want it for real pure function others for looks.

Thanks for you candidness. I'm with the function crowd, but do like the way they look, so I'll probably skip this mod.

ill take a pic tonight, you can't get them 100% to aim where you want. The bumper throws them off because they are at the end of the bumper. I had them on last night and they did a damn good job lighting up the road. They do point 70 degrees over to each side so its like a wide beam . I can adjust my fogs by hand. I made the fogs tight enough in the bracket so that the road doesnt move them but if you push on the lens up or down you can adjust them. You would have to push pretty hard though but they do move. I like this mod, def makes everyone turn their heads when they see me coming down the road. I will take more pics today.

The only regret is the fog pointing to wide. I tried to put them closer but because of the shape of bumper, it's impossible to do it.

I am lookin at the same mess of wires from my Ebay set too thinkin ??? I haven't had time to test anything out yet. 04WDPSeDaN is assuring me that it's all pretty simple. I didn't look at how same/different it is from OEM. I want to wire an HID system to all this. If I figure it out I'll post.

My wiring was different from yours.

I have gotten O.E fogs from honda. Now the best thing I could tell you is the same way I installed mine. I put a jumper box on the table and starting testing and tapping wires. About 1 1/2 hours later I had it all figured out.

Put all your grounds to ground.

Connect everything, harness to the fogs and the other harness to the switch.
Start with the harness to the fogs. Ground the ground and find your power cable. Put 12v through and figure out which one juiced up the fogs.

I did a quick thing on paint to show you. I am not 100% sure since you have a different harness from me. You would need to use a simple jumper box. connect everything as I said, put your grounds in and follow what I said above ^ work with the harness that connects to the fogs. Once you find out what wire needs constant 12volt and then work with another wire when tapping power turns them on and off. With that you already solved half of it. On the accord switch harness you put grounds to ground and you will be putting a shit load of wires to power and testing.

the wire which taps to the parking lamps is only 12v power when you turn on the lights you know to put that to 12v power. Lable every wire as you solve the harness.

To figure out when 2 wires go to the parking wire is simple, take the harness and apply 12v to each wire at a time, when you see the switch light up as in the icon of fogs and the icon of fogs are on you tap those 2 wires TOGETHER into parking.

The wire which supply the accord switch to light up at night needs to be grounded. so its probably not a black wire. this wire will be the last wire to solve. Your next step would be finding out what wire will make the relay click? this wire will be tapped into the same color wire as in the other harness. I think its the yellow wire anyway in the diagram. Once you have your foglight harness fixed and your accord switch 90% solved everything else is simple. Finding what wire will make the function of the switch lighting up with interior lights is simple.

Its all power and ground man. you supply 12v and a good ground with my intructions and you will have your harness figured out in 1/2 hour. Good luck! keep me posted.

For example for your light switch you have

bl, wht, blue, red, yel

The red wire could be the wire that needs to be grounded so that it lights up with interior lights at night

your blue and white wire could be the 2 wires that need to be tapped into parking

you yellow wire could be your switch wire that connects to the fog harness to activate the lights when you press on the button.

now on your foglight harness

I think your solid red goes to the battery 12v with an inline 20 amp fuse to not blow anything in the harness or your fogs.

Ground to ground.

Put your ground to ground

Sorry for bringing this thread back from the thread but is the housing of the fog light attached to the bumper?

I see in some pictures that they are attached to the bumped but some is attached to the (frame?)

Thanks!

Third, those little lenses are VERY prone to glare with HID retro kits. You will certainly be blinding oncoming traffic with them, even with them point way down (oh yeah, you can't adjust them... ).
+1

Could never see the point in at best a non-functional light enhancement & at worse one that will cause other drivers a problem seeing.

I have been reading up on all of the foglight threads, and which gauge of wire did you use for the extra needed wire?

Thanks!
