Smoked a ~2000 BMW 323i

There was this kid driving it, younger than me, and he kept creeping up at the light. So when we took off (the roads were dry on Tuesday, warm December), he kept up to me in first gear until I was about at 6000rpm and then he started to fall behind. I went up to about 120km/h on a road with the speed limit of 100km/h. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't catch up to me through second gear and just fell further behind. When we got to the next light he wouldn't even look at me. He looked pretty pissed off.

325i is like 184hp, so my guess a 323i is like 170hp? makes sense why the 1st gen TL would kill it

Nice kill! What I don't understand is how this guy had even the guts to try racing a TL which is almost 100hp more?

Is it really that much more? I don't think so. My car is a 2.5TL with 176hp/170lb-ft. I don't know how much hp the 323i has, but I'm sure it's more than 76 lol.

Does anyone know the specs on the BMW engine? We both had auto trannies.

1st gen 2.5 TL's G25 motor puts out a realistic 190 hp at the crank (its underrated) It has a broad torque curve plus a high redline (7000 rpms)

Good kill.

so is a 1st gen 2.5TL faster than a 1st gen 3.2TL? I thought 1G 2.5TL's ran 8.2 0-60.

No, it's not faster than the 3.2. But it (arguably) handles better. I love revving the shit out of the engine too.

I was aware it was slightly underrated, but 14hp? Wow! The high redline definitely helps though. Everyone else runs out of RPM and has to shift before me.

Yeah.. the 3.2 leans in the corners. But on the other hand, it absorbs the NASTIEST bumps quite well.

I just had to respond to this absolute comedy! I found your forum by accident and read this complete line of crap and couldn't stop laughing! Thank you by the way, I haven't laughed that hard since the last time my neighbor with a tuned up NSX tried to race me. After he caught up,(When I stopped at a light) I looked him in eye, pointed and laughed! You kids with these small cars and little engines get real lives or better jobs! Bragging about beating a German car that has 170 horsepower is like telling your friends you beat up your little sister. It pumps you up to only the person you see in the mirror and your friends are embarassed to know you. At least get a high end Acura if your going to hold your head up high and stick your chest out! I make sure and pull away from great cars........not little kids in cars with 170hp. I am copying and pasting this bulletin and sending it to everyone I know, this is absolutely hilarious! Thank you for the wonderful laugh! The last stand up routine I went to wasn't anywhere near this funny! P.S. Do you like my member name? Hehe!

I'm sure you own a fabulous German car, probably saved up all your money to get that 318i. Needless to say you still live in an apartment, but at least you don't live with your mama.

Are you old enough to drink yet?

You've hit thirty years old and you have found the need to join/post about something that is apparently 'trivial' to you.. Best of all, you did all this at 2:40 on a weeknight

Does anyone else see the irony of this?
