Post a pic when you get it on. And when you put it on, if you screw it all the way down, you can't tighten up the boot (will have a little slack in it). But that doesn't matter as after a while you hardly notice it! Mine isn't tightened to the top and neither is Kennedy's. Could you tell that by my pic? So see, it's cool! You'll see what I mean when you get it. Anyway - great choice! Feels awesome with the Comptech SS, too!

I got the knob installed along with the solid bushings. I Like the difference!
I've also got 3 bottles of GM fluid sitting here but I've got to get some ramps so I can get under the car. Can't wait to see what difference that makes.
I also installed a set of thermoblok spacers and between the improved throttle response and sweet shifting, I am having a blast.
I see what you mean about the boot. Right now it's annoying me that the ring flops around. I just have it cranked all the way down and the flopping isn't too bad, but with the lock nut on there to line up the pattern, it's bothering me. I'll figure something out.
That puppy does get cold though. But the difference in feel is worth it.
I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
Thanks again for the pointer.

Is this still the best place to order one of these shift knobs?
Also... is there a Skunk2 shift knob with the #'s on the top, or even one that says Skunk2 on the side? I don't like the plain one like darksom has. My stock shifter knob is getting worn out, the colour on the top metal part is really fading.

The one I have has the skunk2 logo on the side and red shift pattern on the top.

It works great, and I think it looks sporty too. I wish it was wrapped in leather. It gets hot/cold.
As darksom says, don't use the locknut. Just screw it on with some locktight on the thread. Tighten it all the way up, then unscrew it until the gear indicators line up and let dry overnight.

Another option is to go with a MOMO knob... they have a shift boot coupler so that you can attach the boot to the knob itself... It is also weighted and works very well with the Comptech SS...
Mine....

USE the locknut...
SKUNK2
USE the nut they include with the knob, turn it up side down and screw it down as tight as you can. Then grease it up a bit to make slippery and pull the boot over it. With a slight push the boot coupler will slide over the nut and will stay there. After that just screw the knob on and tighten it so that the digits line up, in doing this you might need to hold the boot in place so it doesn't spin with the knob.
Btw, the knob will still sit lower than stock, plus the knob itself is slimmer!
Nice and tight

I'll give the nut a try!
How did you get the red paint out of the pattern? I like that look!

Actros, what did you do there?
Any metal tool with a slim sharp round point will do, don't worry about scratching anything, it'll be fine, just take your time. I used a small plastic pin with a sharp metal point and finished off with a tooth pick to remove small paint debris, nice guess there, Kennedy. The paint is fairly soft and easy to remove once you get it going. Just start in the middle and dig deep
![rofl](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
I'm including more pics of the Anniversary knob which I already posted in the Comptech SS DIY thread, it's a bit different from the regular one. Btw big THANKS to the OP and all the contributers in that thread!!!
With the under hood bushings (alum), CT adaptor and a 1lb knob the shifting is greatly improved from stock, it's deliberate. I'm actually downshifting for pleasure now, the shift action is that good

That is a bit different than the one I have. The logo is on the back of my knob.
I just removed the paint from my numbers. You're right, it was really easy. Took all of 10min.
I used the probe from my multimeter and finished it off with fingernail polish remover and q-tips.
I've got the solid bushings, SS and GMFMF...I love downshifting too.
Thanks for the tip!
