Side view mirrors when reversing
I know that the side mirrors are supposed to point downwards automatically when the car is put in reverse, but it doesn't seem to be happening for me.
I currently have the mirror "shifter" (for the lack of a better word) in the middle setting:
L MIDDLE R
I know if you have it on L or R, both side view mirrors won't point downwards when the car is put in reverse (Am I correct on this? Or does only one side point downwards depending on if you select L or R?).
What am I doing wrong? Does it point significantly downwards, or are my current settings already so close to the position that it would be when in reverse?

I found this out the other day. I noticed that the TL's mirror doesn't point down as far as my CL-S did, so on a hunch, while it's already pointed down, I press the down mirror adjuster some more, and to my suprise, the mirror can tilt way down!!! It will return to your preset position once you shift out of the reverse gear as well.

I think thats so you can see if some idiot is about to smash into you if you are parallel parking. If you are in reverse and you move the selector will the other mirror tilt down, or is that only the instant it is put in reverse? If so will the one you just moved the selecter from go back to normal?

We have had reports from time to time of people seeing this, but when they went back to check they could not make it do it again. Not doubting your words, just asking for the confirmation, and if it is confirmed, see the service manager to correct this problem because, as crazymjb said, it could be dangerous if both tilt.

Then again there is not much you can do if a car is about to hit you. In fact, not knowing may be better. You are more likely to be injured when trying to brace yourself for an impact. Thats why people sleeping and drunk, who are lax, ususally have minimal injuries compared to if they had been awake. But backing into traffic... Backing between two cars is the only time I could see both mirrors tilitng being really usefull. This is off topic, but these mirrors fold in if you impact something from the side, correct?

Speaking of which, at what "stage" (when) are the settings memorized and linked with the key/keyfob?
Is it when the key is in the ignition and then settings made after that are linked? Or is "all the time" as long as the setting changes are done after opening/unlocking the door with the key/keyfob?

the memory seats activate as soon as you hit the unlock button on the fob. depending on which fob you use will determine which memory seats are loaded. you may notice that when you enter the car after unlocking it, the MID displays driver 1/2 detected.
since i'm the only driver of the car, my keyfob is set to driver 1. i then set the memory to save the seats all the way back and reclined. then i set driver 2 to my desired setting. that way when i get out of the car or go in, i have enough room that i don't have to worry about my leg rubbing the steering wheel or wrinkling the seats even further.

If you move the seat and press the memo button and memory 1 button, it will remember that next time keyfob 1 is used to unlock the door. If you pressed the memory 2 button, it will remember that the next time keyfob 2 is used to unlock the door.
You can only set or change the memory settings when the key is in the ignition and the ignition is in the "run" position.
