Side Markers as Blinkers

Ok I promise I searched for this before posting a new thread but I couldn't find anything. I was wondering if it's possible to wire our front side markers to blink with our turn signals? Just like bimmers have it....I think it would give our cars a nice European look - We already have bimmer accelerators

Yes its possible, I had a guy wire my sides to blink with the turn signal. The only bad part is they blink out of sync with the fronts.

You think that's bad? that's hot! I had a Chevy Caprice Classic with turn signals that blinked alternating with the side markers. I loved it.

To the OP, Can't help you with how to do it, but I know I've seen it somewhere on this forum. Its a 4 wire mod involving a relay. Didn't seem too hard to do from what I read.

i thought about doing that, but ended up getting the 07+ side mirrors instead.
very happy with them.

now i've changed my side markers to white leds and have switchback leds signals to match them.

you can probably take the wire from the turn signals and send it to a relay that interupts/disrupts power to the side-marker. Only issue with this is that it will blink out of sync.

User need4spd did mine 2 years ago. All the info you need including wiring diagrams is here in the forum from about 2 or 3 years ago, but the problem you're having with searching is that this new forum software won't let you look back more than maybe a week.

MODERATORS???? ..... HELLOOO ????

2 relays, 2 diodes, and some hookup wire for each side is all you need. Who cares if they blink out of sync with the front parking light signals? That's how the GM's used to work.

Damn thats sucks that they will blink out of sync, I mean, I guess it looks ok if it blinks out of sync, but I 100 times more would prefer it to blink at the same time that the front blinker is blinking....the other thng I wanted to ask, is I would NOT want the rear side marker blinking also, I hope they are not connected to blink together, I just want the front ones....thanks guys for the info so far.

Ha Ha.....I have been getting so many issues since this site was updated. I hope it one day will work like the old one did.....I am lost since everything is wiped clean on my history.

I would love to see the blinkers working at the same time.

They just light up, its cool at night cause its one of the ways you can always tell its a 3G TL. Its also a visibility thing I guess, but I am gonna really look into this to see about turning them into actual blinkers and making them go on at the same time as the front turn signals...wish me luck guys.

The alternate blink is ONLY when the parking or headlights are on. Otherwise, they blink in unison with the regular signal.

The only thing I see as a small down side is that the front fender sidemarker is difficult to see in bright sunlight. The sidemarker turn signals on the S2000, Honda Pilot, Beemers, Volvos, Saabs, VW'S, etc. are designed to be seen in all light conditions.

FYI, all 3G TL's were originally supposed to have the turn signal mirrors found on the 07's & 8's as the 1st 3000 '04 TL's produced had Turn Signal Mirrors listed on the window stickers. What pissed me off about this is that when I took delivery 4¼ years ago, the (Japanese made) Acura models above and below, TSX's and the new '05 RL's came with turn signal mirrors STANDARD.

I know whats up with that BS...I never understood how my buddies 05 TSX had Mirror blinkers but yet my 05TL which was about $6k more didn't have it. As far as re-wiring the blibkers, I wasn't really concerned about them being seen in the daytime. I just know that they look nice at night. I saw a bimmer next to me on the freeway today and when they turned there blinker on its looked siiiick!

If you clear your cookies (under internet options) and then you login into acurazine.com again it will remember you login info just like before...

That's gotta be a lie. BMWs don't come with turn signals, everyone knows that.

Mine blink thanks to Kennedy. Without him I never would have been able to do it. I personally think it looks better than the mirror blinker. You can have just your front(amber) blink, or all four, whatever your preference is.

Kennedy, hit me up, I'm having issues with one side at night only. Need to know where to get a replacement relay.
