Shredded my wheel well yesterday
Not too serious but still wanted to post up cuz I like getting advice from you guys. Makes me feel confident with how I fix it. Yesterday was taking a trip to Philly and on the NJ TPKE, dont ask how, but I just heard a huge thump and a lot of frictional noise. Scared the shit out of me so I slowed down and the noise got lighter too so I knew somethign was rubbing. Pulled over and noticed that my inner wheel well plastic lining somehow got loose, maybe lost a clip or something, dropped down and started to abrase against the tires.
This must have been happening for a while but I just didnt hear it till it got bad since I had my music up because it was shredded and I stopped as soon as I heard the noise so I can't see it getting that damaged within a few seconds. But I was going at like 85mph to 90mph at some points.
I didnt have any of my tools so I just used my swiss army knife and ended up hacking it way and disposed of it and now I have no lining and you can see my airbox, turnsignal wires, lower grill, and fogs all from the wheel well and I know it can't be safe. So I need to replace it.
Someone tell me which item is associated with this diagram:
I think I need Fender Assembly 009 Drivers Side
Here is the link: http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no
Thanx in advance.

Hm...i'm not sure exactly where you got the 009 part, but that inner wall simply needs to be replaced? Easy, set and done. Make sure you check underneath the car while you're at it - most likely from the "friction" noise that you described, the inner lining of the wall of the inner fender can't be all that was rubbing. I've run into this once a while back too - got it immediately fixed - remember that if water gets into your airbox - you're screwed lol - i have a cold air intake. Anyways, good luck!

water wont splash into the airbox... from the tire, but water can get into the airbox if someone rolls by you and splashes your tire, regardless it isn't enough water to hydrolock the motor, we all know it takes the filter to be submerged to cause a hydrolock
call up your dealer and get part # 74150-SEP-A00
I had this problem once in my previous honda, I ended up zip tieying it, didnt hold up and on the first turn I left the fender liner on the side of the streetand I used zipties to keep it in there since the honda make sure to get some of those honda clips, most local mechanics have them and if you were lazy they charge like $10 to do the reinstall, does require tire removal... good luck

that happened to me when I was in queens with my previous CL on coilovers. The bump made the wheel rub the top of the wheelwell and it just ripped oiut the lining. Look to see whats missing and replace it all. Its not going to have any effect mechanically, with the exception of some dirt getting into the frame.

Its the part that Al mentioned. But no need to contact Tim on HondaAcura World. Just do what I do and your dealership should work with you. Take your computer with the acuraoemparts page open to the parts counter and they will probably price match or come damn close. And you have it next day as long as your order is placed by like 2 or 3.

I had similar happen on my 2G, after I installed a body kit, I left a few clips out, lol...so on the highway, all I heard was a big woosh, look back, and it was the entire underbody rubber piece...I reversed to pick it up...it was 3am... It was funny and scary at the same time.
So Mr.Elegant, when is the promised photoshoot?
