Unhappy Should these interior lights illuminate?

Guys, this will be the first thread I am creating and I am sad that it has to be one inquiring about problems I've noticed with my 2006 TL.

I wanted to ask a few questions as I have noticed that a few of the buttons are not illuminating inside of my car. Could you please let me know one, if these buttons are supposed to illuminate, and second if there is a DIY to fix them?? Here are the lights I'm questioning:

1) Hazzard Button (Red Triangle)

2) Trunk Release Button

3) HFL and Nav Voice Command Back buttons (The button to start both of these options light up, but the back buttons on each don't)

4) Mirror Controls (the directional pad to change mirrors, slide button to select either L or R mirror and the heated mirror button)

So in the 2006 TL/Nav the two back/cancel buttons for the voice activation are supposed to light up?

Ladies man is incorrect; all lights should be illuminated with the exception of the side view mirror defrost.

Well as a follow up for the OP, and since I've got the same issue. How do you fix them? what sort of light is it under there? Any guides?

There are DIYs in the 3G Garage in regards to changing these bulbs. They're easy to replace- I replaced about a dozen bulbs in my interior this past summer in one evening. All except for number 3 would be fairly simple to get to.

So just to clarify, only the defrost button should not illuminate? What about the slide selector for R or L mirror? I actually checked today and the Directional Pad is lit. The slide selector and the defrost button seem to be one piece.

Thanks

The sliding L/R switch doesn't light up and the defrost button only lights up amber when you press it in. This means its on obviously. And don't leave it on for extended periods of time because it doesn't shut off on it's on- many many members have had their mirrors turn a brownish color as a result.

Thanks guys. So from what I have gathered I have to replace the following lights.

1) Trunk Release Button
2) The two back/cancel buttons for my HFL/Voice Command buttons
3) Sunroof switch
4) Max level button above the dimness controls

Most of these panels are pretty easy to remove from what I have seen but does anyone know of some good DIYs for me to look at for each of these?

I think the only one I haven't seen removed is the piece for the Max level button

Thanks again, looks like a weekend project for me

Max button is easy. You can pull the cluster cover off by hand (pull out), the button is fastened via two small screws on the backside.

Check the DIYs in the garage, section G-100
