Shimmy???

is anyone getting the shimmy at any specific speed or range?? I am currently getting a shimmy at around 70-75mph. i just had my tires rotated and balanced. i have brand new tires (Falken 512 - 245/45/17) which were mounted and balanced 1000 miles before. i went to costco to see if another balancing would fix the problem but it did not disappear.

would getting an alignment fix it??

thanks in advance!!

My TL had a shimmy when braking at 65- 70 mph on interstates Dealer balanced all 4 wheels. Also found that the rotors had warped and the Rotors and Pads were replaced (under warranty)... No more shimmy...

I recommend you go to a tire and alignment specialist. Try one with the new Hunter balance system that compensates for tire carcass stiffness and other tire out-of-roundness. Look on Hunter's website for a location near you (many in CT, also Tirerack boosts of having this Hunter system). The Hunter system also runs the tire on a roller in addition to normal spin balancing. Places like Costco, though a good value, do not calibrate their equipment or set the equipment to the most sensitve setting. Balancing equipment must be calibrated regularly or it will not give an accurate read on the first try.

I have the shimmy at the same speed range. I also have comptech springs just like you. i did just get new wheels and I think that i am going to try and get them rebalanced. I will let you know.

I also want to check to make sure that my lugs are ptu on equal torque because that can cause a shimmy to. I had an rsx before this and when i put rims on it i had to make sure the the lugs were equal or i would get a shimmy.

I notice when braking from highway speeds the car seems to want to pull to the side. Haven't noticed this before in other cars. Does anyone else experience this, any suggestions on what the cause could be?

That could be caused by a few things.....the most common thing is the road surface. try it a few times in a straight/flat road. another thing could be alignment. a final thing is difference in tire pressure.....
