shift lock -- clicking noise
What do I need to remove in order to get to the shift lock? any procedures or how to's? I have this annoying noise when I slow down/accelerate
I read on some other forum, the guy removed the shift lock and put electrical tape around the base module and reinstalled shift lock. I wonder if thats complicated. Its been 2 times I bring my car to the dealer w/o any success. The service guy told me its the 1st time they changed a shiftlock in 2 years!!
Basically I have a new shift lock, but the noise is still present, if it only requires a bit of tape to solve the problem, heck ill do it.

You have to remove the center console.. It's fairly easy.. Use a trim tool (ie. flathead w/ taped end) and carefully remove the side metallic trim.. some of the clips will come off with pressure and others need to be depressed with the flathead.. especially the top clips by the radio.
Open up the center console compartment and there should be a couple of screws to remove at the bottom of the compartment.. and also a couple of screws to be removed that are near the shifter.
Once those are taken out you can remove the whole center console by sliding it backward (not up) disengaging the hooks that connect it. You'll have to disconnect some wiring harness clips in order to completely remove the center console.
After that is done the shift assembly just has a few more exterior pieces that need to be removed which is fairly simple..
Here's a pic of the assembly for reference..
Let me know if that helps..
