shift lag?

I have a 07 tl (reg not type-s). When I switch into the "manual" mode and go for some spirited driving it almost seems that i have to shift very early to avoid hitting the built in rev limiter...

is this a common thing? I'm so used to driving manual cars (powershifting, i.e. shifting w/o letting off the gas at all)... hell even my parents bmw does a better job at shifting (or shifts for you if you get too close to the redline).

I think that's common on most shift-o-automatic cars. I don't think it's a problem unique to the Acura. Remember you still have an automatic transmission no matter what mode it's in.

You have to push it up until it shifts, while keeping your foot on the gas. I use it all the time helps me start off on the right gear.

But it does take a second so make sure you do it at like 6600 and it'll shift at like 6800.

Yo let us know how this goes. Ive called several shops about improving the lag in the 5AT and all they can do is scratch their heads.
