shift boot

i know this has been brought up before, and i have found it, i saw that someone has put a boot over the auto shifter, but the one they used was black and i was wondering if anyone else has done this and got a boot to match the interior color of their car.

just curious why you want to pretend your car is a 6spd? is it so when people ask if it's a stick or an auto,, you can say stick and feel good about yourself or something? i'm just not getting it.....

sorry, i drive an auto and i have no problems with it. i wouldnt feel better about myself if my car was stick. i chose AT. i wanted AT. i have AT. i dont understand you guys who want to front like you have stick.

sorry, i dont have penis envy.

why dont you people who just like to criticize people who have ideas just keep your comments to yourself. we are supposed to be here to help each other out, if you dont like the idea then let it be, some people like the ideas that are brought up.

i joined this forum to get help and ideas not criticism.

btw, i just want to get rid of the labeled plate in my console since i have it right there in front of me on my dash. BMW and the corvett are just two examples of automatic cars that i can think of right no that do this. so do you have something to say about those also, when they come stock with the car.

I don't think it has anything to do with pretending. I want to put a shift boot on my AT myself too because many European cars have a shift boot in their AT, and I personally think they look quite good, more classy looking than ours.

BTW...

Someone asked the same question like two days ago: https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/carfax-please-165845/

I went to the link referred but couldn't find specific information such as (1) where to buy the boot and (2) the exact installation procedures.

i saw that thread and the tread that was linked in it, i saw how the guy originally put on a yellow boot then changed it to the thicker black one, i was looking to see if someone knows how to get ahold of a colormatched boot, like to mathe the tan interior of my car.

ic...

I'm having the same question too. I want to know where to buy the boot.

Maybe we can get the boot that the MT TLs are using? I'm sure the colour would match perfectly. But will it fit?

Won't a black one look better though? I mean even though your interior is tan, it still has black right, like the BMW pic I posted above?

the black will work with any color as it will blend in to the carbon fiber trim/black wood and it will match the dash in ivory colored tl's as the dash is black at the top.

That is what I thought too.

Do you know if the shift boot of the MT TLs will work?

im not here to criticize you, i am here to help you out.

how would you respond to something like.... a person putting a 4 foot high spoiler on his car? now its not an equal comparison to what you are doing, dont get me wrong. but it's just an exaggerated example. would you tell him not to do it? and ask why he wants to?

thanks a lot Xx06SickspdTlxX!

I think i know what is happening. AcuraZine probably placed a lock on that phrase "v-6-p-e-r-f-o-r-m-a-n-c-e-(dot)-n-e-t" maybe to stop competition?

Yes I did!

There are tons of info in there! I'm now under the impression that if I buy the shift boot from the MT TLs, it'll fit our AT perfectly.

i put one on my auto... not trying to look "manual" just looks cleaner overall. just lift up the aluminum ring around the shifter, get a preferably THIN boot, not those thick leather ones, and stuff it down there and put the ring back on to secure it. ill try to take a picture of mines. btw the boot i have is like a carbon fiber weave, kinda matches my trim.

Does anyone know how much the shift boot cost for the MT TL?

I just called my local Acura dealer and got a quote for $275 CDN. It seems very expensive for a piece of leather.

It is vinyl?!

Even if it's leather, it's a ripoff. I mean even a Louis Vuitton wallet is around that price.

If you go to acura.com and go to parts and acc. there is a parts catalog which will give you prices on parts.

This is EXACTLY why I had posted before to see what people think of this mod. My old bmw had that and it looks so much cleaner than the plastic cover currently in place. I dont get why people say you're ricing the car when bmw and benz's come like this stock for the auto. I believe infiniti is also taking this approach as well. It just looks so much cleaner.

I'll post pics eventually when I get mine done. I'm using a black boot, but need to find a way to cleanly attach it to the shifter.

Some pictures and installation instructions would certainly be very helpful!
