and a philly cheesesteak! Plenty to do round here...make a day trip out of it.

Plus, the philly cops are busy with a murder every 5 minutes...no need to worry bout tinted windows!

30% is a good start. Not sure what NY cops are like but 30% is good around here.

If you want to get a cheesesteak, Pat's & Geno's both suck. There are a ton of other places that are much better in the 'burbs.

I wouldn't go to Philly for tints I'm pretty sure you should have some tint places in the NY area.

Philly cops to busy with murders? You're funny dude they'll still get you in philly for tints. You live in the burbs and don't know anything about the city of Philadelphia. You make Philly sound really bad

Ryan use to do my tints in his Car Pretty days. I however didn't know that he left and went back there and got a BS job. But I referred a ton of my friend's to his shop and none are no less than completely satisfied with SOG's work.

Oh... and Cheesesteaks are way overrated. Since your gonna be up that way go get some Crab Fries and Buffalo Wings from Chickie's and Pete's!!! lol...

And to the OP who made the comments about murder's every 5 minutes... Philly is no worse than any other major city. We got our share of crime, but Shades of Gray is nowhere near any of those areas. Trust me I know, I'm within walking distance of their shop!

And one more thing... 218TL if you decide to come down, let me know b/c I really want to hear the base exhaust in person. I have one, but I'm on the fence about installing it!

What makes geno's racist goons. All they say is order in english. What is so wrong about that? I dont think they make the best cheesesteaks but i dont think they are racist.

Yeah I can give you pretty much the best guy in NYC area to do tints. Here's his website: www.tintmax.com

He does very high end work and he has the contract for all NYPD cars. His name is Steve and I've been going to him for 10 years now. He knows me personally, you could mention my name .. might help you break the ice and get a better deal. He uses only 3M tint and he will tint your quarter panels properly unlike some other places. Computer cut tint.. goes right to the edges.. I can go on but you get the idea .. just call him.

SOG is excellent when it comes to tinting! I would highly recommend it..I was leaning towards 30%, but I'm so glad I went with 20%

Cheesesteaks..hmmm..I prefer Pat's over Geno's..that's all I'll say.

and about the city of Brotherly Love..towards the city, when the sun sets, it sucks period. I'm sure it's like that in most cities in the U.S., but recently it's been getting worse..You can't leave your apartment alone.
How do I know? My permanent residence is in the suburbs, but live near University ave during school time.
can't stand how worthless some people are down there.

To the OP, if you have a reason to come down to Philly, then sure SOG is a good place to go, but I'm sure NY has much more reputable places for tinting.

Chose 3M color stable tint. He only carries 3M but different lines and grades to compete with the prices.. but the best one is Color Stable.

Post pics of your tints.. and I can assure you.. you will not have the quarter panel nonsense that people have been unfortunately having to deal with due to incompetent installers. Thats the quarter panel rear windows not being fully tinted.

Tell Steve I said wassup.. and I'm still down in Miami. HAHA

I was looking for someone in my area that carried the 3M Crystalline 40% tint, which is about the same Visible Light Transmission of other 35% tints. Couldn't find anyone that carried that tint, so finally went with the Llumar ATX 30%.

SOG just did my car today and they did a great job!!! Everyone at the shop was very helpful. I would recommend them to anyone. Again I'm sure they have great installers in NY but if your in the area give them a call.

Thanks Elegant TYPE S for recommending Tintmax. Got mine done a few days ago and the work is topnotch. Took a little over 4 hrs since Steve was not satisfied with the rear window and he had to do it over again. I went with 30% and he only uses quality 3M film. Here is a couple of pics for any doubters. No bullcrap with quarter panel not tinted as you can see.

I wouldn't go near Pats or Geno's. Jim's is better or Tony Lukes at Front & Oregon is better yet.

I'm glad everything worked out. He's a standup guy and it doesn't surprise me that he re-did the rear window under his own will, when most other places would've tried to fix whatever it was that got fucked up. And same shit with the rear quarter panels... I didn't even have to tell him about that.. he just knows that he wouldn't want his name behind a hack job.

I'll prolly be going over there in a few days myself cuz I scratched one of my tints with a screw driver, so wanna get that one re-done.

Hey...I think I've seen you around a couple times...Back when the South St. bridge was still around I remember seein your car...

As for tints...I dunno I already have my tails/headlights tinted so I don't need to give the cops any more reason to pull me over...and the state police and my local township police love to pull over ppl for tints.

As for Cheesesteaks, I believe Mama's on Green Lane or Pudges out in the burbs are the best. They give you the most meat (I hate it when places charge you 7 bucks for a little bit of meat in the bread...give me A LOT) and their rolls are better.
