Service let down

Last week brought the 08 type-s in for 3 things. Snows put on, oil change, and the one problem, rear deck rattle.

Leave the car all day and they call me that night with the dreaded obnoxious "could not duplicate." Now the deck rattles 100% when the radio is on, even on # 7 or 8. I mean without question all the time. So I have to assume the guy
has not made a good faith effort to find it. So after a few minutes of me telling him how disappointed I am that they cant find a noise that is there 100% of the time, not some intermittent hit or miss only in certain situation type thing, I decide Im getting nowhere and pick up the car that night. Its late now, like 830 and the place is closed. Before I throw the loaner keys in the drop box I get in my car and turn the radio on, and rattle rattle rattle. I decide to leave it there. I take the loaner home again.

Next day I call them and they agree to take another stab at it. They call me that afternoon and say they did all sorts of things and fixed it. Now is where its fucked up. The rattle is of course there. There is no evidence of them being near the rear deck, the usual acura grease from the techs smeared somewhere, and there is dust back there, and no marks in the dust to indicate someone was looking around. Also, the big thing. If they had some tech spending a lengthy amount of time on this, why cant they produce a receipt for me stating the work order, and what they billed acura under for the warranty work. Because the fucks lied to me. Whats my best course of action for maximum pain. I am pissed.

insist that they assign a tech to your issue and walk him/her through a demo of your problem. Don't rely on "phantom" diagnosis. Also, if the dealer that is working on the car is the same as where you bought it from, go to the sales mgr and plead your case.

If the problem is repeatable, take the tech for a ride so they can see/hear/feel whatever is wrong.

All you can do is call Acura Corporate client services and open a case. Ask for a call back from someone other than the clerk that answers the phone. And don't hang up until you get a case number.

As what everyone has stated, you should have a tech be there to witness the rattle with you. I had to bring my car in for the same issue twice. First time I showed the service advisor and a technician, I even played some high bass music. They acknowledged the problem and fixed it. They followed the Acura TSB on deck rattles and fixed the problem.

Ok so problem fixed and I drive off happy. A couple of days later, you guessed it, rattle comes back, BUT only when the interior is cold, its weird but ok. So I bring it back, but right when I bring it back to have a tech look at it, of course the rattle just happened to go away... and now I can't reproduce the sound, now I'm iritated. But I bring it back the next day when it was rattling, pulled my car into service and kept my music on with the rattle happening and showed the service advisor and a tech.

In the long run they fixed it and I've never heard that anoying rattle.

To sum up my long reply (sorry) just make sure you have a tech witness the rattle with you so they know for sure there is one and they don't call you saying "Sir/Mam we can't reproduce the symptom..."

I would get them in the car with you and make them hear what the problem is. then when u get it back and it's still there beat em over the head with it!
My dealer actually put a hole in my rear seat and tried to say i did it before i even got out of the lot... needless to say i didn't pay for the replacement.

You can't let these ppl get away with poor service. It's there job to make money no matter what, whether through you or writing it off to acura. Get what you deserve as the customer!

and yes there may be some of this to go around...^
