Service Bulletin Question

How many of you actually printed out the SB to give it to the dealer? My 06 6MT has squealing Brembo brakes and rattling rear shelf that I want to get taken care of under warranty and when I asked my small local Acura dealer, they sounded like they never heard of the problem.

I take it with me. It’s easier than trying to explain a detailed issue and makes sure they understand the symptoms & corrective action. On one occasion they used my SB to find a new one that superseded it.

I took the service paper for the rear shelf issue in. Sat for two hours. And was told they couldnt reproduce it. So i asked for the service manager right there, took him to the car and let him hear it, he had them fix it right then and there. Be a pain in the ass, but dont be rude, they know its there they just dont wanna fix it.

warranty pays shite compared to retail customer work being done- if they can avoid it when otherwise busy- yes its gong to get pushed off, but when work is slow money is money
TSBs are Technical serv bull...- their intent is when a fix to strange problem is found- let the other acura shops and data services know about it so they dont waste hours looking too
Some are warranty covered issues and others are just servicing changes or notes on repairs

Your service writer is not a tech- they ARE Salespeople of auto parts and services
(a few are retired techs)
and not expected to know anything but how to write up what service you need and later in the day...upsell you-
they dont even know what a tsb is - is that part of the 105 service sir?

If you found one online- print it out
When you have noises or strange shifting probs etc- always ask to go for a drive with the tech- so the person working on the car can verify its there and fix it!
Get to know the service MANAGER-

Anytime I find a TSB for a problem I have - I print the TSB and bring it it. If it's covered under warranty - it saves time. If it isn't covered under warranty you may get special consideration and at the very least save money on the diagnostic time. My dealer is currently $112/hour labor!!
I just got back from the dealer this evening with my wife's MDX and had the stereo amp replaced under TSB 07-052.

I've printed TSB's out several times to take to the dealership. Why not help them fix your issue?
