Seriously...How Useful is MID? How to retrieve codes before oil changes needed?

Hi,

I have an 06 TL and am a little concerned about the MID.

I notice the MID gives info whenever an oil change is soon needed. At that moment, it provides the codes. A,B, followed by some numbers...

But do we honestly need to wait for every oil change interval in order to find out what other things need servicing like air filter, wheel alignment or whatever?

I need to wait 800km for each oil change reminder and I don't know if other components of the car need servicing immediately or not?

Is there a way to check?

I have 17000km on my TL now and there hasn't been a code yet to replace air filter. I'm getting concerned?

Thanks

except for your oil, the mid just goes by mileage to let you know when to replace things. you can change any of these parts whenever you want. there is really no reason to wait for the mid to tell you. if you take a look at the filter, and it's black then change it

Air filter is either A2 or B2 item - the mileage is variable, just like oil changes. If you drive in dusty conditions (?) change the filter at 15,000 miles. I've found that the Acura air intake focuses the air flow on one part of the filter so what I do is every oil change I rotate the filter to wear it out evenly. I change the filter at 15,000 miles. I don't live in dusty conditions but I feel it gives me better gas mileage and performance. At 15,000 it looks pretty dirty. Since I do my oil and filter changes myself, this just takes a few minutes more.
