Installed them last weekend with the A-spec lower spoiler.

The TL has a big rear end, and with tinted windows, and limited view, they're a great investment.

Installation is straightforward, and the directions are very good. Drilling holes in the bumper is scary, but there are witness marks on the inside so you don't mis-measure. Just take your time and read the directions a few times at that stage. Note, the holes for the sensors on the outside edges are SMALLER than the holes for the 2 center sensors. I ALMOST drilled them all the same size. RTFM...
Installation is plug and play too, no cutting or splicing.

I actually plan to install a backup camera with DOM's unit to complement the sensors.

Isn't thatkind of redundant?

2 devices to warn you about getting too close?

Do they mount above the line where the a spec lip comes around, post some pics.

Yeah...
It's a bit redundant. I'm only doing becasue you can with DOM's kit.
The holes are already drilled, so it's done, no going back...

Plus, the ultrasonic sensors don't see curbs, children laying on the ground, snow banks and whatnot, so the camera is the better option. I think they'll complement each other nicely.

They mount about 1 inch above the A-spec lip... No interference issues at all.

Here's a picture of them installed (dug this out of the forums)...
These are the older style, the new ones are totally colormatched. This pic demonstrates placement and compatibility with the A-Spec lip.

My moms A6 has this feature, and everytime i drive it i fall in love with it. Parallel parking in broklyn or the bronx can be a real pain in the ass, and it helps alot becuase it gets you down to the inch.

Also you NEVER know if something is out of your sight even if you turn around ... the audible warning really helps.

Plan on getting it installed on my TL soon, just wondering what the price of your system was.

That's a funny statement considering you spent $33K for a glorified Honda Accord. We ALL have already "spent all that money". How about you ride a bicycle?

There's a module that you install under the rear parcel shelf (comes with the system, it tabs into yuor reverse lights)... as you approach an object/get close in reverse, the module has a beep tone that get faster the closer you you get to the object.

The TL is borderline luxury car... almost ALL luxury cars have this system. True luxury cars ahve them in the front too.

Two sensors point directly to the rear, the two outer sensors point more to the sides. The fields overlap, but the side sensors do a better job of detecting impending corner hits. The detected distance is less than 2', so having the side ones is a good thing.

I wish they had front ones too.

I would have gotten the backup sensors if they didn't give the appearance of open black holes. NBP is the only color they really go good with. Look at the backup sensors on any other make/model of car. They're completely color coordinated with the bumpers they're installed on. WTF was Acura thinking when they designed these for the TL?

I'll be doing the backup camera instead before long. But in the meantime, I have a 5/8" thick moulding doing the job of preventing things like license plate bolt circles (ring dings). Right above that, 2 layers, 16 mil thick of 3M paint protection film (clear bra material) for those SUV moments. My TL's 2nd birthday passed on the 1st of May and still has no dings or dents .... despite living in Manhattan, NYC.

The newer sensors are actually more flush and fully paint matched. I just got mine from Tim at Hondaacuraworld. I hope to have them installed in the next week or so.

You mean like this newer one for 2005?

The outer ring is painted (DGP in this case) but the inside is still black, unless they changed them again for '06.

Yes, the new sensors are flush (not recessed in your pic, and colormatched...
Much more appealing.

wow there mr. 2k6er, you may be over 30 but you sure act as though you are under 10.

your calling a tl a "glorified honda accord". im guessing you probably own one of these "glorified honda accords" since you are in this forum. BTW i know how to bargain, im not stupid, i spent 29,700otd on a new 2005 wdp, where you probably ended up spending, as you said, 33k. So your basically making fun of your own car that you paid too much for, you stupid hippocrit. and if you dont have a tl or am not looking for a tl, then gtfo.

Congratulation, we all have spent money. wow your really smart, did you figure that one out all by yourself? wait, you probably thought that i stole a tl because im 16 or maybe i bought a tl without any money.... Just because its my family's money doesnt mean its not money.

wrong, on the statement that almost ALL a little luxury cars have back up sensors. my parents cars (luxury sedans: bmw, lexus and mercedes; and a couple suv's) dont have any back up sensors. of course, like the tl they could have ordered them as an option (or a dealer install), but they didnt.

You should more time in public school and less time on Acurazine kid...

I can barely understand what you're trying to say.

Needless to say, I won't be wasting any of my precious time responding to it.

Yeah.. I was really disappointed that Acura did not include the sensors as standard or the backup camera as an option.. I don't know what they were thinking but even the Odyssey has the option as well as auto on/off headlights.

Neech, The sensors ARE an OEM option. I got them at hondaacuraworld.com, but you an get them from any dealer. They're not cheap, the whole system, to include sensors, control module and wiring harness are around $400... See above for install advice.

The option/complement is a backup camera... IF you have Nav, you'll need a converter (see the black market asap for the GB), and a camera (search Wendy's camera ebay)... It's that easy.

I have both because I can AFFORD to not have to turn my lazy self around... to look at my bachelor of engineering and master's of science degrees in my back seat.

Hey....both of you (Kennedy too) stop arguing. If you have a 4.0 GPA....then have the intelligence NOT to post in a thread about an option you obviously have absolutely no interest nor intention of installing, as you have stated in a few difference ways. I mean....its one thing if you have some valid information to add or a way to help....but to just post to be arguementative tends to beg the question on that 4.0 status, something I am sure you didnt intend to do.....your both very smart people respectively and passionate about your rides, which is why these thing happen from time to time......dont make yourselves look like e-tards (trust me....been there....done that) by arguing on the net like this about such a mute point that we are now down to talking about GPA's and Credentials.....its all good guys! Lets just call....no harm...no foul...and move on....cool? Kennedy was here to help somebody out that asked for help....and now this has turned into an argument where there is no real prize to be had....lets all just Chill out and be mutually respectful of each other and continue to help out where we can! Its all good guys!!

Just installed the backup sensors in a 2008 TL

I just finished the install of the backup sensors in a 2008 TL w/navi. Mother in-laws ride, so the camera with the sensors compliments well. Install was rather straight forward with the instructions from Acura.

The newer sensors are completely color matched, not black in the center like the previous ones I have seen on here. Another bonus is the center sensors have a different tone from the further out sensors mounted on the bumper.

Happy with the product. Purchased from Tim @ Hondaacuraworld.com

Just under $500.00 for the sensors and the attachment kit.

Damn. That is what I've been seeing this go for. I need to find a junk yard with some TLs in it...but even then, this would be a too good to be true type of find...

Yes each tone has a volume control. You need to adjust them though before you zip things up in the trunk.

If you can't park or don't care about how your bumper looks, go for it.

Backup camera is more than enough for me.

These are obviously for the more difficult parking jobs where the camera is not enough. I wish there was something on the front bumper, too...

Well, here is mine with front and the rear and headup display that shows distance and volum control. I got this aftermarket ~$60-$70 or so.... the back goes directly into the same OEM spot.... the front you just need to have measure and install...

hey guys.. i looked on Hondaacuraworld.com and dont specifically see a backup sensor kit for the TL's. I see them for the TSX, RDX, MDX, etc. but not for the TL's even after doing a search. Am i missing something or are your sensors for another vehicle? If you can provide the part number that would be great. I'm more interested in the sensors that provide separate beep tones for the inner and outer sensors such as the ones Randy B installed.

Thanks.

He has them, even though they are not listed on the site for the TL. You will order the sensors by color, and then the brain package. Essentially two sets or parts.
