Is this Sensible to ask a Dealer?

If I was only given the option of Nighthawk Black Pearl in Ebony Silver seats...Is it wrong to ask them to replace the Ebony Silver seats with Black before purchasing if the dealership has a parts department for no extra fee?

What about removing the TL-S rims and putting stock A-spec Rims in their place same deal?

Because imo I don't like either on the TL-S <3 my A-specs...and my interior colors.

Think they'd laugh at me or do it free of charge?

i doubt they can even do the seats, but i could be wrong. the Rims they can definitely do, but i dont know if they will exchange them for free.

either way, you will probably have to pay extra.

Yeah but their replacing TL-S rims which i'm sure popoff at like $400 bucks. With $150 A-specs. That alone would cover costs of installation.

idk about the Rim pricing. it doesnt hurt to ask. i would not expect them to laugh at you for that question. but be more assertive when you ask though. act like youve seen it done before.

as for the seats, i wouldnt bother.

Well I mean its a Parts dealer not owned...so Just take out the Ebony Silver and wrap it back up keep it in the Parts department and put in some Black Ebony. I don't see where the issue comes into play I mean I would if it was used but this is all being done before purchase.

^^^ i dont know how they work with the fabrics, but ive never heard of anyone doing that. and i dont think the mechanics are trained to deal with the stitching. you will probably have to ask them i guess.

Where can you buy A-spec wheels for $150 each? I am sure they are about $400 each also. The 18" tires on the A-specs also probably cost more than the type-S counterparts (17").

I think OP means to swap out the seats as a whole, not the silver parts. Then wrap up the old seats (black/sliver) for storage in the parts department where they can use them in another car.

Or perhaps theY can get the black/black seats from another car on the lot and swap the seats...... Just a thought.

Wheels may be the same price.......but a large tire may or may not be more. But hey, doesn't hurt to ask. You have nothing to loose. Good luck.

Seats probably not without you buying the new ones and getting a low trade back to the parts guy for the ones in your car. If he's at all interested.

Rims, I've seen a TL-S with A-Spec rims in the parking lot at work in CT. I did a double take because I saw the twin pipe tips but not the hideous Type S wheels. I've traded out wheels on a new car for others available from the dealer. In my case they were on upgrade rims on another new car with tires that I would accept. Straight swap for the dealer. Still cost extra money. In your case there will probably be tire mounting to go along. I'd bet it will cost you 50-70% of just buying the A-spec rims outright. Any more and you might as well buy them, swap the tires and ebay the original Type S rims. I really don't like those Type S wheels either.

They said once the rims are on the car even with 0 miles their considered used only sell new rims "out of the box" so I have to buy 4 a-specs seperate and sell the rims/tires off ebay or whatever.

Which doesnt matter i'll gain a profit from it.

Seats I looked into the Silver Ebony isnt that ugly in person as i suspected. If anything i'd drops some recaros in down the road.

1st off, Sorry for parsing your post Adobeman. I've got a TL-S with A-Spec rims for exactly the reasons you stated.

I would suggest finding the lowest A-Spec prices on ebay or elsewhere and telling the dealer that you'll take them at the same price. You'll still need to get new rubber b/c the A-spec's are 18" wheels vs. the TL-S at 17". My dealer matched the price for me and mounted my tires for me as well.

I left the dealership with the A-spec wheels on the car and later sold the TL-S tire/wheel combination to another member on AZ.

I wouldnt count on making a "profit" off selling the type-s wheels...you are going to pay far more for the A specs than you will recoup on the sale of the stocks

Acura ships the cars with a build sheet that states every color in use.
The parts dept would have no use for a set of seats
Parts is not in the business of re-selling parts- just selling brand new ones.

For what they would charge you to order a set of different covers- get the recaros or buy a car equipped the way you want

Agreed. The market seems to bring in the neighborhood of about $900 for the TL-S wheels if they are brand new. A-specs cost more + the cost of the tires.

^yep, he'd be looking at a minimum of twice that much for new aspecs and tires

an interior shop might be able to get stock seat covers considerably cheaper from the aftermarket suppliers. Still good quality...but you arent going to be paying dealer prices either. Then you could sell the black silver covers too

I'd be selling the TL-S wheels and Tires.

And I think were all thinking about different wheels...the rims I am referring too are:

Dunno why i keep calling them A-spec...the OEM Wheels. You can find them super cheap and their 17".

I love the TL-S wheels and would swap them for my stock 2006 wheels anyday. Might also swap tires depending on type and condition.

The rim in the picture is the OEM Stock wheel for 04-06 TL's. The 07-08 wheels are split-spoke. If you want to see what they look like check the Acura page, they still show the 08 TL for sale with pics of the wheels on the car. But they are DEFINATELY NOT the wheels you show.

Yeah I was referring to my current OEM 5 Spoke wheels (Sorry) I drive a 2004 TL.

I love the 5 spoke wheels. I'd prob get them powdercoated black though.

Thats what i meant by 150 a piece their super cheap. The Tires are the expensive point.

why not get some nice Enkei or other aftermarket rims and have a unique TL
General UHP tires are awesome wet or dry conditions and extremely low priced for what you get for performance and life
Been on mine for a year and loving it~
