Selling my 04 TL to upgrade to a Type-S
Hello AZ community..
So its time to upgrade :c), and i need some advice.
I have a base TL, AT tranny, 04. the car has 71k miles on it.
WDP with Tan leather interior.
Except for the front bumper that has paint chips here and there due to the road and driving the car, its in perfect clean shape.
Have a lot of mods done to it:
roof spoiler, OEM lip kit, tints, 20" lexoni rims, tints, and ect.
I love the car, but i want to sell and upgrade to TL-s with manual tranny.
I bought the car from the auction and the car has a salvage title. car was in a flood and water had gotten to the computer. causing the computer to short out. I replaced the computer for 700$, the acura dealer used to master key to set off the anti theft system. and the car started one shot..no water in the engine at all.
Car runs great without any problems..
How much do you guys think i can sell this TL for so I can use that money to upgrade to a Type-S Tl?
Cheers..

i would say probably around 6 - 8k, just because the title is salvage ... and if i was going to be dropping 10-12k i would rather get a car with higher mileage and a clean title, but upgrading to a type s with m/t is def worth it, it was the best 3rd gen built!

You're a few suspension and brake mods away from equaling or surpassing a stock TL-S in everything but a straight line.
The Type-S is well worth it when purchasing new and I would've gotten one if they offered it in '06 but I don't think it makes sense to sell a good condition TL to upgrade to an S. I thought about it a while back and test drove both the manual and auto S and there just wasn't enough of a difference to justify selling mine and buying another. I guess if the manual really means that much to you, you might as well do the S.

Original poster, good to hear you want to step up to the newer stuff but honestly unless you are having problems with yours you just need to keep it. You can buy Type S bumpers, headlights, tail-lights, and an aftermarket exhaust for a fraction of the price it would cost you to do a trade and tax/title a different car. If there are things you don't like about your car (for example heavy 20" flashy wheels) just sell them and put that money towards the new parts. The 3.5L in my type S isn't overly impressive and not that much of a step up from your current 3.2L.

The car runs great and nothing is wrong with it, only reason i really want to upgrade is mainly cause of the AT tranny. I really wanna get a manual and while i was at it i figured upgrading to an 07-08 typs-S.
the 3.5L engine + 6 speed manual tranny, along with the intake, exhaust, breaks, and suspension, not to mention the navi, that the Type-S comes with is something i really want and wish i was patient and purchased in the first place..

Personally I thought the TL-S was NOT worth the difference when the cars are compared in price and features new, but used, its a good deal if your making that choice to go with the best model. You will get typically 1/2 price for salvage title over good title so in your case, I would think its not worth the change up.
