hello everyone, I had this issue recently arise with my Navi unit. A few days ago it was raining really bad here in Socal, and I was doing Uber eats for some side income during heavy rain.
during one of my deliveries, I was turning into a parking lot to pick a order up, due to heavy rain and very low visibility, I accidentally went up a small curb (about 2-3.5 inches tall) and the right rear side of my car went up the curb. I know in my trunk the dvd driver happens to be on the right side of the trunk by the wheel well.
well when I was backing into a parking spot, that was when I noticed the entire display looked like photo #3. Ever since then my Navi unit has not been working, the display with the clock works fine still.
could I of knocked something loose when I hit the curb? Any ideas on what I should check? I recently bought this car a few months ago and all the wiring was replaced a year before I purchased it btw. Could the rain of affected something? I want to figure the issue out and fix it, it’s been driving me nuts.
below I have photos and descriptions of the start up process and what happens with the Navi unit.
This photo is during start up, the screen will start like this with the colors split. This is after startup, when the system starts booting up and the menu/Navi start to load This is when the Navi fully loads This is when the car is off, the screen looks fine. Sometimes when I start the car up, I can see the Navi and reverse camera perfectly fine for a few seconds before the weird overlay pops up. If you look very closely, this is when I’m in reverse; you can see objects in the background (trees, cars, building etc) under the glitched overlay.
I don’t think this will help, but I recently took apart the rear to get access to the nav unit.
there are 5 plugs at the back. Your standard “press tab to pull out” plug you find in the car. Various sizes, and all distinct. I believe the one closest to the rear taillight had the tab on the left side, not the top.
The 4 bolts holding the nav unit into the trunk were rusted away, so I had to reach behind and unplug them.
I do hope unplugging and plugging will fix it, but I doubt it.
