I backed into a truck hitting the steel step rail/bumper whatever its called. And got a big scratch on the rear driver side bumper. A little scratch on the body as well. Anybody know an estimate of how much it is to fix it?

If it's a total bumper cover repaint about 250-300. But they will need your car for the day and it might be a rental as well. If the bumper cover is damaged, a new cover will cost at least twice that. (based on 2g price and in the MA area).

 

Looks like they have to repair that damage as well as repainting the whole bumper. It should take a day, but I would think under $400 for the repair. It could vary where you live.

 

yea its pretty deep, its flat where at the is arch so they have to repair that first. Do that have to repaint the whole bumper. Never repaired anything like this. Also the body have a thin scratch too.

I dont know if i should repair it or not since im worried about the paint matching and the cost. I just got the car a little over a month!!!!!!!!

 

If you need to replace your bumper cover, the cost will be somewhere around 300 for the cover. The cost to repaint the entire cover will be an additional 300 - 350.

Wow, those are good prices people are quoting. When I had my bumper redone (warranty), the body shops in the area charged $600+ for a repaint and reassembly of the original bumper.

 

What would you guys do if you had this scratch on you TL? WOuld you leave it or get it fixed for about 200-300 or get the whole bumper replaced and paint it for a total of about 700-800$?. I leaning towards not fixing it at all

If i do plan to fix it, this damage isnt neccessary for a new bumper cover is it???

 

Thats a real personal pref question there....I would say yes, definately fix it! You have not had the car for that long....definately fix it. Not to mention you are from an area where cars can have an effect on your image, to some degree? I guess fact is....they do just about everywhere....but especially in California!
