Is this A scam?

I got this email from a guy i saw on craigslist. i wanna buy the car but im iffy. what u think

First of all I'm very glad that you like my car. It runs and looks great. It has no hidden flaws, no dents, no leaks and it hasn't been involved in any crashes. I have its clear title in hand. I serve the USAF and I'm stationed at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. I won't be able to leave the base until January, so I will have the car shipped to you at my expense because I benefit of various discounts.
I will pay the shipping fees and the insurance of the car.
All documents will be provided to you along with the car including the bill of sale under your name, title, service records ...
The reason I'm selling the car is of a personal nature and has nothing to do with the car at all.
I'm a serious seller and I prefer to deal only with a serious buyer that understands my situation.
The final price is $ 3523.
Please reply if you're interested and I'll get back with more details of the car, more pictures and the VIN.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

V/R

Scott Campbell, TSgt, USAF

Andersen AFB, GU.

Yes. Definitely a scam. Heard a million of em. Tell him you're willing to wait until January when he returns and wait for the BS to start flowing.

who cares if he sent you pics and car fax....
anything involved in shipping, where the buyer is not with the car is a red flag.

Egg him on. These situations are kind of fun if you're not a victim. But these stories are all the same: great deal, extrenuating circumstance, seller willing to take all liability, completely honest person... blah, blah, blah.

Seriously, tell him you're really interested but want to wait until January. Or better yet, tell him you have means to ship the car and deal with money on your terms and just listen to all the reasons why he has to do it his way. Either that, or you'll never hear from him again.

Or you can do what I did and just respond with a simple, "Nice try, scammer."

+1! Exactly. If you are a little curious, do this and you will see how funny some of his statements will be. If nothing else, it will be good for a laugh to string him along a bit. But, whatever you do, DO NOT give him ANY personal info. I don't mean just SSN and bank acct numbers, I also mean phone number, address, etc.

Years ago, a buddy of mine passed around the entire email history between him and one of those Nigerian scammers. My friend was stringing him along for weeks - it was fukkin hilarious. All the names he used were Seinfeld characters.

"You just need to go into your bank, and have them call my bank and ask for Kramer. He has all the information you need to transfer your money to me." ....
And on and on like that for like 20 emails. Hilarious!!!

Just ask him to send you a simple e-mail with "TEST" in the subject line from his US Air Force e-mail account.

Also, if you happen to know anyone in the Air Force, ask them to check the Global for a Scott Campbell at Andersen.

it is fun to keep rollin' with the bullshit for a while, to see just how far these guys will go with it. you've got to be a moron to even consider something like this (not directed to you OP, but people actually do fall for this crap every day)

Both of you guys are out of luck. I've already been in contact with him and the deal is done. Unfortunately, his terms changed when I made a serious offer: his free shipping arrangement fell through and I had to pony up an extra $1K to cover shipping. But it's still a steal for only $4.5K. Sorry to beat you out of this transaction, but I just had to take advantage of this fantastic deal!!!

There is a little good news though..He has a buddy in Guam that has the exact same model car for sale as well. You can contact him at: carscam@gmaildotcom

It's a scam... car pictures and carfax can be obtained from any dealer's website that may be selling that car.

You can just do a Google search on the vin# and if a dealer has listed the car anywhere online... you will get a hit... try loading up the cached pages if its an old sale.

Just reiterating the advice you got. Do Not give out any personal information... otherwise have fun if you like with your very own scam email chain

Definately a scam, right now there is someone on craigslist in the "chicago area" that is selling their clean 2006 TL with a feshly charged A/C fro $2000. It pops up as a new listing at least once per day. these are all scams. If it sounds too good to be true then it most likely is.

or another good one is that the vehicle is in a container/packed, so you are not able to go look at it (before i give a cent over i want to see the vehicle first)

or another one is when they only show one side of the vehicle, and they can easily have taken a photo of both sides (aka what are they hiding)

In my search for a TL i found a cheap too good to be true posting on craigslist. My email response was as follows:

I'm selling it as I'm being transferred to Afghanistan and keeping it stuck in the garage is really not an option. As I'm currently stationed in Pearl Harbor, I can't do the deal in person so the transaction will run through Yahoo! Autos. They will manage the financial transaction through the vehicle purchase protection program secured by escrow and will arrange delivery through JC Motors shipping company. Delivery and transaction fees are included in the price. 3 days vehicle inspection will be provided. I have left the bike at a shipping warehouse near Boston, MA. They have the title, keys and all paperwork ready to be transferred to you.

If you're interested reply with your full name and full address so we can set up the transaction with Yahoo! Autos and a vehicle inspection with the shipping center. As soon as we set up the transaction, yahoo autos and the shipping center representative will contact you with all the details regarding payment method, shipping or pick up and inspection process. Also, if you have any other questions or need more info please email me and I'll get back to you asap.

Regards,
Gloria Bucco

This was posted on my local Craigslist in KS yet the seller says the "BIKE" is left at a shipping warehouse in Boston. How can you expect to scam someone when your so careless?
