Ok so a Mustang GT (new version) get next to me and is doing the jumps....

Sounded loud as hell and he kept on so eventually I dropped it. From about 10 I had him by a car up to 70.

Then a GTO swings around him cuts me off so I watch them go at it. GTO takes him by about the same length as I did.

The GTO then gets next to me. He does keeps jumping but I hear MY whine... It caught me off guard! Anywho I figure why not and was really suprised. I hung in there! I was about 3 feet from his frontbumper up to 75 or so before I shut it down. 2 SC going at it was awesome sounding!

He probably would have walked me from then on but I am not breaking 75.

Pulls up at the light I am turning and we chat. We talked about catching each other at the track but he was shocked that a 9000lbs car was hanging.

Just thought I would share.

yeahh, thats what im thinking, LS1 or LS2 supercharged GTO personally, i think would walk a S/C TL but idk for sure

you hung with a S/C GTO up to 75? Your S/C TL maybe be fast as hell, but i would call a bit of BS on this. the slightly older GTO made 350hp. Assuming 15% drivetrain loss (automatic) he's making 298+/- at the wheels. Throw on a tuned S/C and he's making 400+. The slightly newer GTO made 400hp. Figure 340+/- at the wheels. Throw on a tuned S/C and he's making in 450+/- at the wheels. Even taking into consideration weight differences and maybe tranny(auto or manual) you shouldn't have even been close to a supercharged GTO. Unless of course the driver was messing with you.

The 04 isn't as fast as it should be, but the 05-06 are goddamn beasts n/a, i can't imagine how crazy they are supercharged.

I've had a 04 LS1 GTO with a Maggie supercharger, dyno tuned and a nice catback, and let me tell you the only good matches were crotch rockets. Truthfully, dyno put down 405whp on a light tune. I'm not calling it bullsh*t but just doesn't seem like a TL(SC) will ever keep up with the GTO especially a blown one, unless he was just playing with you! Or he didn't have big enough tires in the back. In my cases if I punched it at 50mph my ass end will be all over the road.

Guys, why are you guys throwing up the bs flags? He clearly stated he went up to 75mph and mentioned he'd probably lose after that but shut it down.. If he stated he pulled 5 car lengths on the sc'ed gto then maybe.. Bent dosen't have any reason to lie

the motor in the GTO has pretty good low end power. if it was supercharged with a magna charger (most likely) there would be no possible way he hung until 75mph. those S/C's give full boost right of of red line. even a centrifugal(?) supercharger would make it imposible. the combination of low end grunt and high rpm power of a centrifugal S/C ould smoke him. I still call BS.

I said GTP because I figured it was a typo and they're all supercharged. A GTP with basic mods would be a good run for a supercharged TL. A stock 400hp version of the GTO would be a good run with a supercharged TL. I ran a stock pre-400hp (5.7L, not 6.0L) GTO in my friend's IS350 and it barely pulled us but still, it pulled us.

No offense, but it sounds like the sport bikes were either playing with you or had very bad riders. Even today's little 600 supersports can pull 10.60's-10.90's @ 130 with good riders. The liter + bikes....forget about it!

04 GTO's really aren't that fast stock. IIRC 1/4 is in the high 13's low 14's, with the 4speed (lol) auto at least.

I've found that most riders aren't that great. It's always wheelie or bog. I have flat out embarassed a few R6s from a roll and from a dig. I even managed to beat a friend's 900cc bike through the 1/4. He was catching me pretty bad but he's a horrible driver. I tried my luck with a Hayabusa and it wasn't pretty so I went and picked on my friend's R6 again to feel better. My car was a 10.60 car then, no times with the new mods and I'm sure given better riders the larger bikes would've beaten me. It's just that with a properly set up car like mine, I launch at 6psi boost, roll out for a second and as soon as it hits second gear put it to the floor and pray the slicks hold. For a bike I think it's a little trickier on the street. Still, it's a solid mid 10s car, not a 13 second TL.

Agreed. I have no doubt a blown TL would take one. It's the supercharged part that's a little hard to believe. Also the part about a supercharged GTO beating a Mustang by only a carlength doesn't sound right unless it was a stock 03-04 Cobra.

I don't think the OP is lying, but maybe it was a typo.
