Saying hello, new here
Just saying hello to all, been browsing for about a month or so. I'm in the market for an '07 TL-S WDP w/ ebony int 6 speed as soon as my dealer can find one. Learned a lot so far and already have several mods lined up. I'm hailing from Boston, MA and currently drive a '98 BMW 528i, heavily modded of course. Had it for almost 6yrs now but it's time for a change and while I would like a 550i, those of you familar w/ Bimmers know they can be a little heavy on the wallet to maintain. We also considered the 335 coupe and Lexus IS but when it came to std equip for the price point and reliability, the TL-S became a strong contender. What sealed the deal (on the car and this one specific dealer) was when I took my wife to see the car. I called the salesman I spoke w/ to let him know we were on our way and when we got there he had a car outside running for us to test drive. He came out to meet us, said take it for about an hour, check it out and he'll see us when we get back. Came back and he came out to meet us, answered a few questions, then just said to call when we're ready. He made my wife feel so at ease (she hates car dealers, couple of bad past experiences), never mentioned price, no pressure, we didn't even step foot inside the showroom. So as soon as they find exactly what we want, I'll be sure to post pics.
Welcome to the forums!
You will find that when you get the TL-S (or even the base TL) that it will definitely be more bang for the buck as opposed to the other contenders. Hope you get your car soon!!

I have two 3G TL's. Mine is an '04 manual and I am here to tell you that it still puts a smile on my face. If a car ceases to entertain me, I'll soon become bored with it. My 6MT '04 TL is therapy from a hard day's work (serious stress factor here). It is both relaxation AND fun in the form of entertaining the gearhead enthusiast side of me. I will bet you will love your TL-S.
As for my other TL, it's the wife's. She had a '98 328i and after it left her stranded with a broken water pump impeller, enough was enough. You are dead right when you mentioned the cost of ownership of a Bimmer. How does over $8300 sound for 5 1/2 years of EXTRA maintenance work sound? German engineering does not impress me, quite frankly.
Anyway, welcome aboard and trust me.. you'll be SOOOO glad you got the 6MT. A sheer joy to drive.
