Sat in the New TL Today - Review

Today, I saw three new TL's. SSM, Anthracite and the light green color (I forget the real name).

I had an opportunity to sit in the Anthracite-Navi and fool around for a few minutes.

First, the outside was really nice. The wheel wells have some sort of strange lining. Pretty neat.

The leather inside was/is much nicer than my 03 TLS-Navi. The navi screen was like being at a movie theater compared to mine.

The trip computer was a HUGE disappointment. OF course, it is possible, I could not find all the options, but what I found was unimpressive. First of all, there was no trip computer inside the navi like in the TSX and Accord. All I could find outside the maintenance and keyless entry stuff was overall avg speed and overall avg mpg and distance to empty. Where is the instant economy/mpg? Where is the tire pressure monitor? The trip meters and outside temperature were also mixed in the trip computer. This means we no longer get a constant view of the trip meter and the outside temperature.

The two storage compartments below the radio are worthless. If you are lucky, you may fit your wallet in one of them. It should have been like the one in the Accord. In the Accord, you can store 15 CD's, in the jewel case.

The sunglass case in the doors are pitiful.

The buttons on the center stack were large and well placed. The clarity of the navigation system was awesome!

The headlights were great. I turned the foglight switch, but the did not come one. Not sure why.

The aluminum trim was nice. I was not sure if I would like it, but I did.

Brembo or not, I still felt, in-person, the brakes are too small and should be bigger.

The exhaust outlets did not look bad in person. Although, you have that big outlet, but upon closer inspection, there was only a small little outlet inside the tip.

The power lumbar adjustment was nice. Should be on both seats, but it was nice.

The glove compartment seemed smaller than my 03 TLS-Navi.

One piece of speculation, it seemed like the 6MT will be a long reach from the arm rest. Might be a little uncomfortable. We'll have to wait and see.

All in all, I enjoyed the car and look forward to seeing the 6MT.

The auto doesn't have Brembo's. They are a little small.

Correct. I am saying all brakes are too small. 12.2" are too small for the Brembo's.

12.2 might be a little small but I don't think they will be a problem. This isn't a track car, it's just a sporty sedan that does things "nicely." Think about what a company like AEM could do with an already good caliper relocated and using a larger rotor. That would be a pretty nice braking system!!!

Definitely. I am already wondering what type of cross-drilled Brembo will have available.

Brakes

I drove one yesterday and the brakes felt smooth and very responsive. I am much more concerned with my wife trying to stop her MDX than I am stopping the TL. Yes, there are some things that I didn't care for much (brakes not being one of them), but overall, it is the car for me.

Am I the only one that noticed the smaller shift gate area?

Sorry, I did not take any pics. I figured we were all pic'd out.

I forgot to mention the window sticker shows 20/28, not 20/29 for MPG.

Sundance, I also noted something funny about the gate. See my original post, but I think the reach may be uncomfortable for the 6MT.

Yo Emu,
What dealership did you go to? Mostly everybody is saying that there are no dealerships with the auto with navi's yet. If its close, I just might have to pay a visit. Thanks in advance.
