Sane people?

I am new to the forum as I just bought a red 2007 TL-S. I love the car!

I have enjoyed the forum and there seems to be quite the mix of people here. Just buying a $38,000 I would expect the demographic to be somewhat nice and welcome.

I just encountered a thread where someone was talking about how hard his cart beats from music and the lady next to him must be nuts for asking him to turn it down. Is this indicative of the rest of the people here? I have also seen posts that remind me of the forums I browsed years ago when folks talked about ricing out there 89 civic. "Yo looks here dawg, i llikes to beatz my music and you a punk asses dont usderstand, i gots like 10,000 watss and 450 hps under diz hood."

Someone please tell me this is a friendly place.

I'd say the 80-20 rule abounds here as well as most other places. In general, there are a lot of helpful and knowledgeable people on this forum- I have learned a ton of stuff about the TL here. Give it some time and you'll see.

^ acurazine is a very knowledgeable place where you will be welcomed. Of course there will be some little scuffels on this board, but they subside quickly with the help of the mods. As for the 89 civic thing, its just funny and we poke fun at it. This site is for amusment, cars, and a bunch of other stuff. Enjoy and good luck
BTW, Welcome

Cool Agree..

I have had my share of big mouth's here also.

But I was told once. "Life is like a grape, eat the good part. Spit out the seed's"

I think that works here as well.

Welcome to Acurazine.
Since you're already feeling warm, I will resist the urge to flame you just for the heck of it...
There aren't many here except for truly stupid conduct or silly posts, such as when someone moans, "Why did that lazy cop give me a ticket for driving on the sidewalk at 90 mph? Is that going to affect my insurance?" Then the poster gets
Otherwise, it's and ...
Congrats on the car and enjoy the asylum now that you're here!

Welcome...

Actually, this is a very, very informative forum with a nice mix of demographics/people! So one must be careful not to mock/attack/insult another person's preference, way of life, age or any other personal definition of that person - else the will commence! I was one of the people that flamed you for that incendiary remark on rap music in that other thread you posted in. But you seem like a cool dude, so it's all good! (Besides, I went too hard on you and I got my first PM spanking - ) Probably becuz you are new, since I have no doubt said and heard worse on here! Whew, should have seen us go at it the other day! LOL! But it is all in fun, even with the hostile takeovers, we always go back to cars in the end, so don't be thin-skinned about it - we don't bite! It's just a computer, you can always skip a post or thread you don't like!

Again, welcome aboard!

Most helpful car forums I've looked at. I like that 80/20 number written above, seems about right.

Hmm...You know, I was thinking about this some more and I kind of want to stick with what I said before. It's one thing if you berate a person because of his misuse or abuse of his car, as this is a car forum. But it is another thing to read where you make fun of the way people talk and the music they listen to. I notice that you specifically point out urban slang and culture (rap music). I hear rock music blaring depending upon where I go and I don't ask them to turn it down. Why didn't you say anything about rock? Country? Jazz? See, what you should've said was what you said in this post I am quoting, but you were talking about rap music and specifically about Ludacris. Why do you point out rap specifically? I see where people often misspell words and other grammatical errors. But you aren't concerned about that, just slang. I am not for people being ridiculed because of their choice of music or the way that they talk. This isn't about "WHO" people are, this is a forum about cars and you were out of line, new or not!

For those who didn't see it previously:

Originally Posted by Tripnbeats:

Your response:

If it's not too much to ask, do you mind turning down your music during slow or stopped traffic? You're not the only person on the road and not everyone wants to hear and feel Ludacris tell us about his hoes in different area codes.
While it is true that it can be annoying, it is true about ALL music played up loud! He made no reference to playing "Ludacris", so why did you go there? You don't know him to know what music he likes. So you stereotyped. Prejudged based on what YOU don't like. Based on your problems with the vocabulary, I take it that you don't like hiphop and urban slang. No prob, to each his own, but who cares what you like? You should keep that to yourself! To me, a new person with that attitude is just as bad as someone who has been here for awhile. It's poison to the community this forum represents. It's not cool trying to mask that in a condescending way either with the "I hope that is not what this forum is about" type bs! What this forum should not be about is tolerating that type of behaviour! I take the good with the bad in here, people are who they are, I just want to know about cars, my car in particular. If I use slang, I don't want to hear it from you or anyone else! If I like rap music - same thing! Keep that to yourself please! Or I will let you know!

If you came on this forum to be educated about your TL or to hang out and pick up a few tips on modding and/or anything else in a manner conducive to achieving just that, then that is cool. I welcome you like anyone else would. But this forum will not be tailored to your taste in music and conversation. Not by me anyway...FYI: I play my music loud at times (a variety, but yes, sometimes Luda!) and I also kick the slang at times! But if you look at my posts, you know I can kick that and lay the educated version down like Allan Carpet! I have a mind and I choose to chill when I come in here, on both sides. So you might not like it, but I hope you don't step to me about it! It's my perogative! "Streets are watching"!

Welcome!

BTW...The moderator was right in letting me know that I was out of line for my comments in the other thread, because I was. I didn't like what you said, still don't. So I decided to take a different approach. But he also was wrong in not letting you know that what YOU said is not what we are about as well! An oversight that I corrected! Glad to be of service team!

Enjoy your stay and your mods! Hopefully your future comments won't put you in that dreaded 20%!

This forum helped me a LOT when I bought my TL in June 2004, however, the signal to noise ratio around here has decreased significantly over the past two years.

I've stopped visiting here regularly because there are only so many posts I can read about window tint and lighted sill plates.

Despite my not being too interested in a lot of today's posts, this is still a pretty friendly and helpful place.

FWIW, I'm also a regular at a photography forum and it seems that it's gotten very noisy there too.

Congrats on purchasing your new TL!

Regards,

Darksom1, I apologize for the generalization. Stereotypically (I would say 99.9%) when I hear and feel music from other cars it is some sort of rap. The lady that asked the person with the music to turn it down might have kids or a headache and doesn't want to hear noise pollution. Yes, you are correct, respecting others on the road when playing music whether playing Beethoven or Ludacris is a good thing to do.

I love to crank it up just like the next guy but I do turn it down when I feel it might disturb others.

jay0k - this forum has its fair share of dumb@$$es just like any forum...what distinguishes it is the vast amount of knowledge that the members have (and share) on any topic imaginable (you just have to go to the Off Topic section to get the lowdown on non-TL related stuff).

What happens is you get a stupid highschool 18 year old like me every now and then who drives a 07 TL and just wants to "throw some Ds on that"(lmao that was a joke) and put a nice system in it. Then im the type that would get yelled at by somebody telling me to lower my music. BUT overall im a respectable 18 year old that is just addicted to bass and cant help it... telling me to stop listening to loud music is like telling someone else to stop smoking!

Oh and you should post some pics of your car, and congrats on the new car!

and... im not one of those spoiled rich 18 year olds whose parents bought them the car. Just wanted to say that because sometimes people feel the need to PM me making fun of me especially because what happened to my first car.

I haven't read more about your car, and I know you just got it, but hopefully if you can do it, consider getting it. There are plenty of pictures here on the forum for you to see the attitude it gives it! But, as many would agree, it is more noticeable on the 3G TL than the TL-S. And of course, I am sure if I read further that someone has told you to slam it by now and hook up the wheels! We all have modificationitis here! LOL!

lol damnnn darksom i love ur smart ass comments it adds some life to these threads ... I dont care what anybody thinks, but I say im a respectable guy because what 18 year old do you know runs his own business? I dont mean doing a little here and there, I mean doing everyyyything as in paying bills, firing/hiring people, and everything you can think of. AND!! goes to college full time?.. I think thats good enough reason to say im respectable.
Does the jury agree? haha
