What happened to the one motor I broke in very easily is the rings never seated. When I popped the heads off, the hone marks in the cylinders were gone and they were polished which is not good. When I measured the bores and compared them with the pre-assembly specs, they measured the same. It's not excessive wear but what it seems happens is the "peaks" get smoothed down into the "valleys" and there's no longer a place for the walls to hold oil in the hone marks. This was also an assembly where I didn't use much moly and that's one of the ingredients in the Honda "break-in" oil. So one thing to remember, it's good to change the factory fill early, just make sure the oil you buy has a decent moly content. I think we've gone off topic again...

Edit... Ring choice and cylinder material make a big difference in how hard you have to break them in. The one thing I always keep in mind is a couple hard runs won't hurt a thing but breaking it in super easy for 5,000 miles could potentially cause problems. I'm definately not suggesting going to the drag strip or doing top end runs in the first 50 miles.

i have an is350 in the garage which " shouldnt be able to beat a 335i " as ive heard so many times .. but like its been said .. counting all the variables on the street i can tell you that car has beaten down quite a few " unbeatable " 335's

hahah this thread was very entertaining to read.. it took me a while to get what fl3.2tl was talking about when he said "wait til twin335 comes in here..." lol but it was funny. 335turbo is not the modest mouse to say the least..

he said somethin about jabber being 19 and immature but it says hes 19 too.. didnt quite get that. but yea im envious.. 19 gets to roll around in a 335 + has a sick 2nd gen in his avatar + parents have a e550 he drives too.. gangsta haha fuck it IM FUCKIN HAPPY WITH MY TL!!!
