Rustproof or Not?
Rustproof or Not?
Hey Guys,
I got a 05 TL last week and one of my friends asked me if I was going to rustproof it. I just thought I would check here first for advice before going somewhere that will drill holes into my car.
I heard that the newer cars don't need the rustproofing as they have stuff in the metal now that prevents rusting. Is this true?
Should I still go and get it rustproofed?

Excellent.. thanks guys. Thats what I thought. I never did any rustproofing on my 2000 accord and after 7 years.. not 1 piece of rust.
I'm gonna Zaino my car when it warms up. I did it on my other car and the results were amaizing.

Not worth it
The last car I had rust proof on was in '85 on (at the time) a brand new Corolla. In '92 when I tried to file a claim because the hood was rusting, the company refunded my money only, claiming that the original store that did the work was no longer in business.
Remember "Rusty Jones"? A very popular rust proofing company in the 80s, they had went out of business years ago, I think that was in the early 90s.
Since there is no way to guarantee the company is still around when you file a claim yeaars later, and the fact that galvanized steel is used extensively in late model cars, there is really no need to do rust proofing anymore.

Some rust proofing methods end up sealing off drain holes and trapping moisture. At one time GM wouldn't honor thier rust through warranty if aftermarket products were applied ..
Don't waste the time and money.
