i started noticing rust developing on my car and was wondering if its covered under warranty to fix.

 

I think unless there is paint coverage on your warranty paper work I don't think so. It would be considered wear and tear on the car.

 

I think it's generally covered for perforation only.

 

Most vehicles along with the bumper to bumper and power train coverage come with a corrosion coverage. The amount of time and what exactly is covered I dont know. You'd have to look in your warranty coverage book which should have come with your owners manual and other books in the glove box.

 

Surface rust isn't covered (only rust through, i.e., holes caused by corrosion). Surface rust is pretty rare on modern cars and normally means the area was repaired/repainted. Are you the original owner?
