Exclamation Running too lean or too rich? (on dyno)

So i just got my car dyno'd and my air/fuel ratio starts out lean and ends up rich. I didnt expect to get the HP numbers that i thought i would (247.3). Here is my Dynograph of the air/fuel ratio let me know what you think. I have also been having a problem with a PO171 code system too lean bank 1. There were no codes present at the time of Dyno but earlier in the day the CE light blinked and went off. Can anybody help me out with this? Thanks

04 tl 6speed
mods:
K&N intake
p2r throttle body spacer
UR Crank pully stock diameter
comptech short shifter
greddy evo II catback exhaust

i cant help you out, but i am curious about the dyno- how much, and how many runs- I was quoted 100 bucks for 3 runs, and it takes an hour? Also, are you not happy with 247 to the wheels? thanks

The dyno cost me about $93 after tax for 3 runs. It took about a half hour to an hour, it went by really fast. I am happy with 247 to the wheels but i think it should be more especially bc i am running too rich. If i was running more lean i believe i should have more HP. The whole other thing is my budy has a 08 altima (6spd) with the same engine HP and he got 252 to the wheels but i beat him by about a car length when we run, so it might be power to weight ratio or different gearing im not sure but hey i do still beat him. Does anybody know what the stock air/fuel ratio should be? Also what is the stock wheel HP? Another thing i was thinking is maybe the TB spacer might have something to do with my screwed up AF ratio. Any input is extremely helpful. Thanks fella's

bro... you start lean and end rich...

the numbers you put down are pretty friggin good...

this is what you have to understand... DYNO DYNAMICS... they call it the dream killer it reads slightly higher than a mustang dyno... and since everyone just loves damn dynojets you would run 260ish on a dynojet

No Limit is in bellport NY, Here is there website: www.nolimitmotorsport.com .

I rather have your numbers, 294 horse to the wheels? Are you s/c? Not to get too much off subject but do you know of any TL/Acura meets on long island?/ Interested in trying to start one?

^ theres always meets going down.. i think theres another hecksher park meet planned for early-mid june... check the meets section

I have a Type-S... with just about every single possible engine mod lol

ATLP Exhaust
ATLP J-Pipe
ATLP Hi Flow Cat
RV6 Pre-Cat Deletes
AEM CAI
UR Crank Pulley
P2R TB Spacer
OE IM Gaskets
Innovative Engine Mounts

294 was before the ATLP Hiflow cat.. i would ball park around 298-299 if i used the same dyno//with the same run conditions

I dyno'ed mine at SpeedWorld in Baldwin.. Its a Dyno-Jet, so it does read a rad higher.. i would probably pull about 285-290 on the Dyno you used

Your A/F seems about right... dont forget, when you measure A/F through a "tail pipe sniffer" you cant really hold those numbers 100% true

The Shit, would be to put an A/F meter gauge in the car, like some of the boosted folks do

i was going to supercharge my car.... this summer actually, but i just bought a $5k vacation for me and the gf.... so, funds are limited.....

**i would have rather had the s/c'er**

blackura were you planning on building the s/c yourself? I've been leeching around other threads, and Comptech still doesn't have a 3.5l s/c right?

Nice dyno btw!

You need to check out Project Blown TL Type S is Underway in the Performance Section if you haven't already.

im still trying to figure this whole thing out you know, do you see on the graph where the a/f ratio drops off? the guy that dyno'd the car said it was dropping off at different points and it shouldn't be doing that. So in hopes of fixing the car i need to know what the a/f ratio should be and go from there. Anyone know what the stock base TL WHP is?

Blackura_NY, I have a few more plans for my car and that's about it- test pipe, j pipe and possibly type s cams ( after i do some research), i dont know what else i can really do without s/c it, my pockets arent that deep lol

type-s cams are a good choice, but dont expect much gain from them

type-s pre-cats, or RV6 pre-cat deletes will DEFINITELY bump you up

Honestly, the way your A/F drops off, is pretty normal.... when you are WOT, it should be around 12..... when you are idle, or low RPMs, it should be around 14ish.... 14.7 : 1 is ideal for idling..

Thanks for the advice man, appreciate it. Question: The pre-cat delete will get rid of the cats coming right off the headers correct? If so will that CE light appear or is there a way of getting rid of that?

Nope, NO check engine light.... Richie puts defoulers in the pre-cat delete, so when you put your O2 sensors in... they are none the wiser

The Pre cat deletes, will increase your high end HP by A LOT... i gained around 20whp peak.... and 14wtq peak.... BUT... it will slightly decrease low-end torque.... my car, in the low-range, doesnt seem powerful... but up-top, she SCREAMS like a beast

If you wanna stay eco-friendly, and still gain power, you can put the 3.5L Type-S Pre-cats on the car... they are 600 cell/in... as opposed to the 3.2L TL-S pre-cats, which are 900 cell/in... i would expect you gain around 7-9whp from that.... without losing low end torque

OEM TL-S PreCats - $600ish~~

RV6 PreCat Deletes - $250

do the math

honestly, the precat deletes and the jpipe, are the best mods out there for the money....

No doubt but check this, i was getting beat by my friends altima (about 1/4 of a car length) and i did the pully and TB Spacer and forget it, i beat him by about a car...just wanted to throw that out there but i would imagine the type s cams would do a little something. "type-s camshafts are lighter, yet just as strong or probably stronger than the base camshafts.......thus camshaft rotation faster = increase in HP = faster engine." I also heard that the valves open up a little longer or something of that nature i just cant find the forum.

Anyways anyone know where i can purchase the pre-cat delete pipes?

cars/motorcycles and anything else that has to meet epa emmissions testings and anything else the govt gets their hands on are always set lean down low and rich up high....this is to meet the epa down low and to keep the motor from burning up on top....

Don't focus on the weight of the cam iteslf. It doesn't matter, won't get even 1/10 of a hp from it.

It's the extra lift and duration that adds hp (at a higher rpm).

I like the ATLP V1 and Excelerate J-Pipe the best... i dunno if Richie is going to make one like that
