Rubbing Compound

OK, like an idiot, I used some light duty rubbing compound on the black portion of the door (my TL is SSM) to rub out a small scratch. The scratch is gone but the finish is now foggy. I've tried repeatedly without success to buff it out by hand. Polish doesn't restore the shine either. I don't know if it's due to:

A. Not knowing how to use the compound.
B. Finish on that part of the door cannot be dressed with compound.

Anyone have any suggestions or tips?

I tried Z2. Don't have any Z5 but I'll probably get some and try it.
