Unhappy RSX Type S to a TL Type S

Hello AZ,

How long would it take for me to get over my old car? I bought an RSX-S (6 speed MT) brand new back in 05 and it was my pride and joy. After putting a few bolt ons, I supercharged her with a JRSC and treated her like a queen.

Picture from my iPhone 3G back in 2009

Years went by and I found myself being lazy and not racing anymore with my RSX, so I figured I'd sell it and buy another car. Something that I've always wanted, but couldn't get. I posted my RSX-S on Cars.com for $13,000 at 8:00am last Friday. The buyer sent me an e-mail at 9:30am asking if SHE could buy it for $12,500. Thought it was reasonable, so I sold it to her on Sunday. It all happened so quick... my RSX gone, just like that.

So yesterday, I bought one of these.

Picture from my BlackBerry Torch (Don't buy this phone)

08 TL Type S - 5 speed AT. Even though this car rocks my socks, I still miss my old car. Maybe I need to distract myself by spoiling this car like I did with my last one.

Again, how long would it take for me to get over my RSX-S?

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes:
* Owned a supercharged RSX-S for 5 1/2 years. Spoiled it rotten.
* Took only 1 day to sell the car (Just last Friday)
* Bought 08 TL Type S yesterday
* Still miss the old car.

Good choice on the TL-S. Even though im sure you had a blast in your RSX I was just never a huge fan of them. They remind me of Eclipses or whatever that you see chics or teenage boys driving around in. They are nice cars but it sucks thats the impression I get.

The TL-S is a great car and I hope you start to like it more as I would have hate for someone to jump into a car too quickly if its not really what they wanted. Since you apparently like mods dont forget there are plenty of things you can do to the new S!

That is awesome though that you were able to sell it soo quickly. Sometimes it takes people months to get rid of a car. I owned a 07 Kinetic Blue Pearl Type S which I liked a lot, but I also had a C6 Z06 vette to help ease the pain of getting rid of the S.

Goodluck with the new S!!

Congrats on the new car, you will fall in love with it trust me.

For the time til you get over it I can't say since I have never owned a RSX but scroll around this site and you will find yourself with a grocery list of things to get for it. Once you start doing stuff I have a feeling you will distract yourself really quick.

Nice job on the sell to her so quickly also even though you are missing your car. Do you have any starting ideas yet to what you want to do to the tl?

Thank you so much!

I've been trolling this site for quite a bit and it seems like this community's so much better than the community over at .com.

Thanks, Steve.

I believe the first thing I'm going to do is get coilovers for this badgirl (I feel like that's always the first thing to do). After that, I have no idea because like you said... there's so much to be done to her!

you might also want to look into an a-spec body kit for it, makes it look much more aggressive.

p.s. just saw your (don't buy this phone) under the tl-s picture...yeah after i had the storm never again will I go with blackberry!

Great choice, I bought a TL type s about a week ago, and have been very impressed with it. The inside is quite luxurious and has just about everything you could imagine in a car as far as features go.

I'd say after you race a couple of rsx's, youll probably be over them then

if you drove a base rsx, you'd would get over it the second you stepped foot into the tl-s.. that's what happened to me! haha, but yeah I still miss my rsx, maybe its because i sold it locally and see it from time to time.
beautiful pick up btw, love the color.

Wow, the RSX has great resale value. The price of a used 05 TL in good condition with about 65K miles will be about $13-14K

I'm gonna have to go through what you're going through. This girl lives right across town and she takes the same interstate to work like I do... A small part of me might die everytime I see it.

I didn't really put much miles on the RSX because I had a Yamaha R1 too. It had roughly 48k miles on it. Who knows, I probably could have gotten more out of it...

Thanks for the info, LMT-S. You're from Jacksonville? I picked up my TL-S there on Monday at Tom Bush Pre-Owned Vehicles. Not gonna lie, I hate the roads there.

I really couldn't find a 6MT TL-S. I feel like they're so rare! Especially in Florida.

You are not kidding. I worked ate JAX airport for United Airlines when in flight school at Embry-Riddle and the roads were awful. I was there when they were updating I-95 back in the early 2000's. That said I miss FL and cant wait to move back. I lived in Orlando and commuted from There to Daytona for school then up to Jax to work in my S2000 or 98 Prelude SH. Great road trip to listen and fuss at Neal Bortz or Dr. Laura...lol.

You'll love the paddles I'm sure or auto Stick. Especially after the engine mods. It's a fast car with an auto transmission.

Yeah I hear ya man. I actually just test drove a 08 6spd today since I have never driven one. I loved it!!! They are for sure rarer but if you are serious about it you have to be willing to possibly travel to get it. I know that can sometimes be a pain when buying cars but people do do it. I sold my 06 Z06 Corvette to a guy in Denver. Flew into Chicago I picked him up and he drove it 14 hours home to Denver. He was thrilled!
If and when the time comes for me to find a 6spd Type S I will certainly consider travelling to get it. Plus its kind of a fun I think.

Have fun with the new S!

Congrats on the new ride.

I think with any enthusiast, theres a certain level of emotional attachment to a car. It seems like you parted ways with your RSX faster than you were expecting. If my TL was replaced with a new BMW M3, I'd still miss my TL to some degree. You'll come to love your new car as time progresses. The TL-S is an awesome ride.

When I bought my 6-speed TL in Florida, there was only 3 listing on autotrader within 300miles. I car was 150 miles away so I drove 300 miles round trip to get it.

Congrats on the new ride. I don't think you'll ever get over your old car. Going through something similar right now since I just sold my DB8 to my cousin and still hasn't sunk in yet. Best thing to do is to enjoy your new ride and try not to think about the past.

You are very fortunate with the 300 mile round tripper and within driving distance. I flew almost 6,000 miles in a span of 2 days to get mine.

Get to modding the car. Once you start putting energy into the car I think you get more focused with the car. This car is as fun to mod as the RSX and you can yield a lot of power while keeping the car quiet. Do a good CAI, J-pipe, and exhaust of your choice and feel the extra 30+hp that stuff gives you. You'll get happy and miss the RSX less. I missed my sponsored S2000 and Prelude SH when i let them go. It's all the time you spend with the car and put into the car that hurts. My cars weren't riced out. Where very clean with all engine/suspension mods that helps the performance of the car. Luckily id see the cars around town and i smile to know someone its taking good care of my car.

Then you drove it all the way back?! Lucky for me, Mine was just a 400mile round tripper.

Thanks, Lefty. I feel like there's a handful of RSX-S to TL-S converters on AZ.

Coilovers and wheels first!

The car was transported back. Thought about driving it back but glad I didn't. The 11-day wait was just as aggravating though.
