RSX to TL-S
Hi everyone,
Just thought I`d say hi as i`ve moved along from my 2002 NBP RSX to a 2008 WDP TL-S. It`s not my primary car so the RSX has long lived and driven sparingly but I need the four doors for my family of four so even though it`s my secondary car (only gets 7000km/year!) I thought I`d get an oldie but goodie!
I`ll be receiving her on Halloween day.

Is the 6mt tl type s really that rare? I found a 2007 6mt type s with 116k miles on it for $15k. Is that a good price for it? Im currently looking at the tl or a 2006 rsx type s with 100k miles for $12k.

Phenomenal DD for me. I average about 24-28mpg depending on driving mix (calculated by hand), its a really comfortable car to cruise in & whenever you feel like having fun, drop a couple gears and pulls like no tomorrow. The only gripe with the car is how grabby the clutch is going from 1st to 2nd if you're stuck in traffic but once you learn the bite point it's not a big deal anymore.

As for responding well to mods, I haven't done any yet but it seems like when you allow better breathing (etc. exhaust & larger intake manifold) and have it tuned these cars make pretty impressive numbers.

The seats are a bit more prone to "cracking" than most of the leather out there since its really soft but if you're not jumping in & out like an idiot and take care of it, it'll be fine. My seats are near perfect condition after 9 years & almost 80k miles.

Is the price of $15k for the 2007 tl type s a good price? Its grey with black stock rims and has 116k miles..

^Alexx if I were in your shoes, I would be all over that TL type-s. Yes it has higher mileage, but if you can be provided service records (and they look good/up to date), there have been many TL owners over the years, putting up to 250K-300K on them. And it's a 6MT!
Can you provide a link to this "type-s"? Other members may notice things to look for, or give advice on what to look for.
I believe the color could be CBP (Carbon Bronze Pearl) from what you've described. The wheels are Black, or dark gunmetal?

jk jk i already own one, but i do live in san diego.
the car looks is pretty good condition aesthetics wise, other than a center armrest that needs to be repadded ($15 fix through a DIY here). the leather doesn't have major cracking and can easily be "rejuventated" with Griot's garage leather conditioner.
regarding function, i would ask them if they've done the 105k service, it's about a $600 service (at an independent shop) that includes a new timing belt and water pump. if they did the valve adjustment that would add about another $300 to that service. two key maintenance items for the 105k mark. if they haven't been done you need to ask for $1000-$1500 off. also ask about 3rd gear issues (grinding or slipping out) and condition of the motor mounts.
also you should start your own thread asking questions and advice so you aren't thread jacking the OP's thread.

holy fk that thing is clean!
yeah you should start your own thread, but since sockr1 stated some issues you should look for, look underneath for oil leaks too near the oil pan

and about 1/4th the way down on the left side there's a button that is black and says "new thread"
post the link and ask the questions you want advice on. also search that same forum since many people have started "need advice on this car..." and people have given TONS of advice and what to look for.

Alright thanks guys. I'll post something on that section of the forum once I get the car. Hopefully everything goes smoothly and the car is just as good mechanically as it is aesthetically.

I took it out for a night drive tonight and let me say... WOW! Mind you my other car is a BMW F30 328i xDrive but this TL-S feels so nice and rides so smooth for a seven year old car. Its amazing! Both cars are so different but for being seven years old and some of the other technology being a decade old compared to the new BMW Connected Drive system, its still so amazing how much I like the TL-S. Buying the TL-S was the right choice. Now I really see what all the Acurazine 3G TL-S folks have been bragging about!
