RSX sport shift knob on a 6MT TL?

I'm not particularly dissastisfied with the stock knob...

I'm 100% convinced it'll fit exactly. Looks like an easy install too.
Might make a nice add on to the A-Spec steering wheel and comptech short shifter.

Just curious as to the forums thoughts on using this shift knob:

It wont connect to the OEM boot, there is no clip, so the boot will hang low.........

I prefer the OEM knob, the RSX knob will get cold and hot in the seasons........

I have a cheapo "Type S" shift knob from Autozone that is silver satin finish and has like 7 blue leds that blink and stuff... got it as a novelty but now I really like it. The shape is more fat and wide than tall and skinny like the one you are looking at. To me the fat and wide works better... to each his own though...

Not true... Look at the instructions for installation. I provided a link above. You remove the existing shifter ring and install a different ringon the boot.

The way I see it these knobs don't make any difference in the performance or feel of the car. If you have Comptech SS installed, a very nice addition to it is a heavy (weighted) shift knob. I use Skunk2 shift knob, which is almost twice as heavy as OEM knob, and it makes shifting so much easier, it's flawless.

That's a neat idea, and I was thinking the same thing about the weight. Too bad the Skunk2 knob is so damn ricey looking.
I might go for it anyway, tray and paint the letters blue to match the A-spec wheel stitching or something.

Its a Kuda Leather insert. It fits in place under the trim piece and can hold a variety of things. You order the leather piece and then you can order the holder for various sized PDAs, cell phones, MP3 players... I just added a magnetic holder and I have the metal pieces on the back of my cell phone and my Rio Karma...

Its a slick piece... color matched as well...

Check it out:

Fructus, Johnny 2K.

I'm curious how you're connecting the top of the shift boot to the bottom of these weighted shift knobs... ?
Got a pic ?

I meant to ask about the "thing" on the right side of the stick shift, it remins me of when my wife bought a "as seen on TV" hands free for her Element and worked by putting the station on an AM station...on the left side of the radio in the pic ....what's yours for jmbnove??

And not to hi jack the thread but I would not switch over to the RSX-S knob unless you live where the temperature is stable, since I had a friend who had it on his RSX-S and had to wear gloves during the Winter since it froze and was like touching a wall inside the freezer you run the chance of having your hands become attached to this frozen knob...

There's a bolt that comes with the knob, that goes under it and allows you to adjust the position of the knob. The plastic ring on top of the leather boot just slides right on that bolt. You have to apply a little force. Had exactly the same setup on my '03 Civic. Here are the pics:

There's also another option, but this one is universal fit, meaning it's not threaded, so you won't have the same clean look:

Thanks Fructus...
Good stuff. Just ordered off ebay.

I'm hoping the extra weight of the knob will take out some of the notchiness of the comptech SS kit.

I picked up some blue testor enamel to paint the shift pattern with so it will match the steering wheel. That red stands out like a sore thumb

Know of a good cutom interior shop I could have the shift boot re-stitched to match the A-Spec wheel?

I had that Chrome shifter for my RSX. There was scratches all over it and during the summer it burns my hand LOL! I would never get a metallic shifter since I live in FL. I like the leather wrapped around the shifter.

Skunk 2 shift knob has scratch-resistant coating. Regarding the temperature whether it gets hot or cold it really is a non-issue.

I havent dont anything to make the boot sit flush with the shift knob. It doesn't bother me that much. I will get around to it eventually!

I would use the old stock shift knob from the RSX (i still have it), but I really like the look of the TL shift knob. Too bad there is not a different option of the shift knob for our TLs.

It's not about looks. As far as I'm concerned I'm yet to see a better looking knob than stock TL knob, but Skunk2 knob weighs almost twice as much and that's what makes a difference.

My Skunk2 knob showed up today, just tried it out. This thing is a must have if you have the Comptech SS kit installed. The extra weight gives you additional leverage, which eases the shift and reduces the notchiness.
It almosr feels the same as stock, but with a shorter throw...

The colrs is good too. It blends well with the metal garnish on the sides. I've got a bottle of testor enamel I blan to repaint the letters with, ( a nice blue) to match the interior lighting and blue stitching of the A-Spec steering wheel.

Fructis, thanks for the reccomendation...
