RPM Slight Jump

When slowing down from a higher speed and hitting 20 mph, I've noticed RPM drop below one and then slightly jump up again. There's a slight pull back. Normal for a TL?

Normal. Grade logic system. The car down shifts and the engine does a bit of braking. Saves you on some brake wear, especially down hills. Just do a search on here for "Grade Logic".

From Acura's website

"When encountering a steep uphill or downhill grade, Grade Logic Control will instruct the transmission to hold a lower gear for better climbing or increased downhill engine braking."

thanks for the explanation... makes sense. Acura says it happens on "steep uphill or downhill grade" -- I've also noticed it a bit on flat roads. you, too?

It does kick in on flat roads, but it's especially helpful on steep grades.

It's a little alarming when it first happens, but you learn to anticipate it and ease up a little on the brakes between the shifts. It almost feels like the tranny is having a tough time popping into the next gear.

If you put it in shiftronic mode, it won't do it as much, if at all.

I have an 05 auto that just had tranny work done warranty and I have noticed the high rpm downshift on flat roads also.

Another thing I noticed was, in the past when cruising at 80. My car would hover around 2500 rpm. Now after the service it's closer to 3k and my mileage has gone in the crapper.

Anyone had Acura do some work and noticed a change?
