I thought this was going to be a smart-ass remark
Now I know that "smart" was not involved......

I've used RP on both my 06 and 07S. The cars are much much much better. I can't put in words how much greater the RP is from Mobil 1, but I also read about RP being TOO slippery; RP is very slippery, but this makes engine components wear easier. I don't remember what factored engine wear, but there was an article I read on azine about RP vs other oils. I would do a little more research, but from personal experience, the RP is THE performance oil.

I doubt that RP is significantly better than Mobil 1 Extended. The car will not perform any better with synthetic versus regular dino oil. Synthetics do offer better engine protection and extend change intervals. I personally use Mobil 1 Extended synthetic.

Royal Purple WTMFW!!
been running it (5w30) for the last two oil changes at 5000 mile intervals, about to do another...
Some people on this board knock RP and say amsoil is better. After the read ups I've read I can't knock RP at all. This whole too slippery business that was mentioned in another post, I believe that had to do with some of their transmission fluids.

"Is Mobil 1 with SuperSyn Technology a fully synthetic motor oil?"
"Yes, it is. To meet the demanding requirements of today's specifications (and our customers' expectations), Mobil 1 with SuperSyn uses high-performance fluids, including polyalphaolefins (PAOs), along with a proprietary system of additives. Each Mobil 1 with SuperSyn viscosity grade uses a unique combination of synthetic fluids and selected additives in order to tailor the viscosity grade to its specific application."
"What is the difference between Mobil 1® Extended Performance and Mobil 1?"
"Mobil 1 Extended Performance formulas are designed specifically for today's longer service intervals and are guaranteed to protect for up to 15,000 miles or one year."
"Mobil 1 Extended Performance has a unique formulation with a boosted level of protection and performance. Mobil 1 Extended Performance, with the Advanced SuperSyn System, contains 50 percent more SuperSyn than Mobil 1. (Updated March 2006)"

Just picked up Royal Purple from pep boys and changed the oil today.
I noticed today that on the RP label theres a picture of a dashboard that looks to be a VW...the rpms are at idle and the speedo is just above 60mph, ha

Tekno, I use 5w30 for summer, 5w20 for winter. I hope that helps. I havn't tried 20 RP for winter yet, I think I was still on Mobil last Winter.
Also, Tekno, you can pick it up at almost any auto parts store. I've seen them at Auto Zone, Murray's, and NAPA.

i find it hard to believe that you can "feel" the difference between m1 and rp. ive seen that UK study that shows rp doesn't wear the engine parts as much as other oils, but can you seriously "feel" the difference? i think that most ppl feel the fact that their car runs smoother and better due to the new oil being in their car regardless of the kind of oil.
im not knocking any oils just adding my

I would be leery about using RP. In other higher performance cars with extreme mods this may be a better choice. I cannot imagine that RP would add significant HP on any dyno test. If so, was it a stock car? Oil additives are nice, synthetics are good. RP or any synthetic would help increase engine life, decrease running temps, decrease wear metals, decrease the breakdown of oil. Oil additives and different types of oil can only lubricate so much to reduce friction and increase HP. I would say keep the money and save for a bolt on. The company I work for analyzes oil and various other fluids, and I have been through thousands of oil samples and spoke to many engine mechs. and the oil additives and such do not make that big a difference.
I was under the impression that the TL uses 5W20...I may need to read my manual..I just got the car...

Yes, Acura states you should run 5w20 in your TL. I believe there have been several discussions here that the main purpose for using 5w20 was to meet CAFE standards and up fuel economy, but the thinner oil compromises engine protection.
Honestly, I don't see any reason not to put the best parts and lubricants in my car as I'm planning on having it for the long haul. For an extra few bucks every 5000 miles...why not?

In one of the tuner magazines an evo showed a 10hp gain on the dyno with just RP instead of Mobil 1. Believe it or not there has been dyno proven results with different oils. I have switched from Mobil 1 fully syn to Amsoil in my evo. My tl-s says 30% oil life and is about ready to get is first oil change switching it to amsoil. I have heard nothing but good things about RP and would have no problem putting it in one of my cars.
