Rotor Help Vibration

Hey All,
I am just starting to work on my car myself.
I recently changed rotors and pads on the rear of my 2007 TL and I have some vibrations when I go over 45/50. It doesn't happen all the time and once I come to a complete stop and go again it doesn't do it again for a couple miles.
I am going to change the fronts this week and do a brake fluid flush at that time.
Both rear calipers have been replaced in the last 2/3 years.

As you can see in one of the photos the rotor has some red or pink on it.

Has anyone had this problem?

As always I appreciate the help.

Thanks

Looks like it has some warp or something?

Also it vibrates when I hit the 45/50 mph and than it starts to shake the faster I go.

Thanks

Make sure the brakes aren't dragging. Just lift the car and spin the wheels by hand to see if they are.

Are your wheels balanced? Are you sure you bolted them on properly? 80LB-FT of torque?

Looks like aftermarket wheels. Did you double up on wheel centering rings by mistake? Correct lug nuts?

Does it vibrate ONLY when you hit the brakes?

When did the vibration start?

Loose lug nuts??

Also, if aftermarket wheels, is the hub bore correct??

Both wheels seem to have a little resistance when i turn the wheels off the ground. And has a little like whoosh sound when turning

They are the stock rims and lug nuts. Torque to 80ft.

The car sat for like a week while i was out of town. Once i changed the brakes when i got back the vibration started.
it only does it sometomes and once it stsrts vibrating it does it until i come to a complete stop.

If im going under 45 or so it doesn't vibrate when i stop.

Thanks for the help

Are the calipers tight? Bracket?

Everything is tight and secure.

when i went back in a took the caliper off to make sure it wasnt stuck the pads came off too with the caliper when i pulled it up off the rotor.

My brake fluid looked pretty gross so i am going to flush ot after i do the front pads and rotors.

Thanks

Yea if this doesn't work I am just going to take it to the shop.

I just don't get the discoloration between those rotors.

Thanks

Wondering if the pads were cocked/dragging?

Looks like the discoloration is coming from the parking brake being stuck on.

Did you have trouble getting the new rotors to fit over the parking brake shoe?

Yea maybe. When you put the new pads on do you like slide them down the rotor or do you put them like directly into the bracket?

Just make sure you get lube on the slides and piston contact areas to avoid sticking.
BTW, how do the pads look?

Adjust your parking brake shoes so there isn't any drag. But maybe physics already did this for you.

The pads should be able to slide easily on the caliper bracket.

It does not look like your pads are hanging up or sticking.

Your symptoms are unclear. You get the shakes when you? drive up to 45mph or whatever.

Does it shake regardless of braking? If you coast at that speed or coast down from that speed...does it shake?

Is the shaking dependent on applying brakes?

Idk...this probably requires you to just take it to a shop.

BROlando, the rotor that is discolored was a little difficult to get off and on. Once I release the brake the car moves freely without me pressing the gas.

The pads look normal.

It shakes regardless of braking.
Once I pull out of my neighborhood toward the highway the speed limit increases so it drives normal up to like 45/50mph. Once I hit that it vibrates and shakes. After it does that I pull over and turn around, once I do that it stops doing it until I hit the that speed again so I pull over come to complete stop and it is good until that 45/50 speed.

It must have been something I did because for a car with 260k miles it drove excellent up until I changed the brakes.

I appreciate all the help

Maybe the parking brake is dragging.

And yes, if all this started after you did the brakes, then something is likely wrong with the installation.

Have you taken it apart and checked everything? Is the parking brake dragging if you spin the wheels by hand?

If I spin the wheels by hand it is easy but after a full turn or so it gets difficult. It does have a whoosh sound as well when I turn it by hand.

I am going to take it apart now and check everything.

Thanks

It has to be the parking brake because I can not get the rotor off at all.

Should I use a rubber mallet?

Thanks

BROlando, I got it off my just using my hands. When I try to put it back on it is for sure hitting the parking brake shoe.

How do I get it over the parking brake shoe? Adjust it?

I appreciate your help

See the "star" shaped adjuster wheel? You dial that down until you can JUST barely slip the rotor on easily.

Remove the rubber inspection hole cap that is in the rotor hat. Turn the inspection hole so you can reach the star adjuster with a flathead screwdriver.

Then, dial the adjuster tighter in small increments until you feel some drag on the rotor.

Then dial it back down in tiny increments until you feel no drag.

Done.

**while you have the rotor off, before you do any of the above....make sure the sliders and spreaders are clean. Clean them with brake cleaner and a brush. Then lube them up. You want to use MoS2 lube. But...if you don't have that, then some caliper lube should work.

BROlando that was exactly it.

I did all the things you said I took it for a drive and it was perfect.

I appreciate all the advice.

Have a good weekend.

Thanks
