Whats up everyone.

Wondering where most of you picked up your rear roof spoiler from?

I contacted BMWOEMSHOP on ebay and they will do for $74 for being an acurazine member.

I don't know if anyone is interested but an additional discount was offered if a group order of:

5 @ $72 - shipped (each)
10 @ $70 - shipped (each)

I could care less about saving $2-4 dollars, just thought i'd throw it out there.

Or if anyone else has a recommendation of where to get mine from, please advise.

I purchased my roof spoiler from bmwoemshop and I would have to say for the money it is a good deal. I like the look and the paint was perfect.

my advice, AVOID the glue they give you lol.

 

Why? I ordered mine from ebay and use the glue it came with as well as the 3M that was already on the back of the spoiler. I've had it for over a year...and i got canadian weather

 

Maybe because you8myrice lives in the west where they get the Colder Canadian weather

 

well, I'm in Chicago. We have a bit of everything (heat - can reach 100 in the summer, rain, winter snow - below 0 weather, etc)...

any advice?

 

I got mine from that same vendor and the adhesive that came with it loosened up around the edges after 2 years of New England weather. It honestly doesn't hurt to add some extra adhesive during the install. Loctite makes a product safe for glass or you can go with something like JB Weld.

 

use window weld and your OWN 3M tape.

 

I just ordered the BMWOEMSHOP spoiler for the '06 ASM TL I just bought. It's got a better look and fit compared to most of the others out there IMO. And you can't beat the price.

Mine actually stuck on very well with Edmonton weather where it goes down to -40 degrees.
Only thing about the glue is the huge mess it leaves behind, when i had to get it removed to replace my rear windshield, it was a pain cleaning it off the spoiler.
personally, i'd take off the tape it came with and just use some 3M tape, i did that the second time and its been on pretty tight

 

I ordered my spoiler tonight. I think I'll do the 3M tape thing as well as using some window weld or something like that.

 

Their tape and glue are working fine for me.

ATLP roof spolier is what I want for my 05 TL but unfortunately they aren't made any longer.

 

Heard word last night, my spoiler is painted and on its way. My local Napa auto parts suggested using Loctite so that's what I'll probably use and rough up the glass with fine grit sandpaper.

 

That's over kill.

I only used the supply adhesive that came with the bmwoemshop roof spoiler and it's been on my car just over 2 years now. It's holding just fine and hasn't come loose one bit.

As a matter of fact the paint job on it turned shit and started showing hairline cracks from edge to edge but the roof spoiler is still holding in place just fine. I would like to buy a new one, but the shitty paint on it can only be noticed when your standing less than a foot away.

I highly recommend against using loctite and sandpapering the glass because when your roof spoiler paint job turns shit you're going to have a hell of a time removing it to replace it with another or repainting it...

The temperatures here in TX during the summer reaches 110F-120F and during winter drops to about 10F-20F.

It was this past winter when I noticed my paint job on the roof spoiler turned shit.

I've wanted one for awhile and at that price I might order one like....in ten minutes.

 

took about a week in total

 

have yet to put it on, been raining the past few days and I only have one car.

instructions recommend not driving for 12hrs after installing to allow glue to set. will more than likely put on this friday

 

After seeing a pic I think I'll order. wonder if they offer SSM

FedEx dropped my spoiler today and I put it on tonight. I used the glue that came with it. We'll see how it holds up. Pics will be on the way his weekend. So far it looks great! The paint was spot on perfect.

 

i also was able to put mine on this past weekend.

now to find my damn camera, wait for this weather in Chicago to clear up and give my car a good cleaning.

i did manage to take a few photos while installing, w/ my iphone.









also, while driving this past Friday, i ran over a small piece of sheet metal. luckily, i purchased free replacements when i bought tires last year - this is my 2nd tire being replaced (one due to bubble on sidewall and the other for sheet metal)

Have anyone try to raise or tilt the roof spoiler. That my next mod

 

What exactly do you mean raise or tilt the roof spoiler?

 

Tilt to make it tilt higher then the original

 

i don't think i've seen anyone modify the one i purchased from bmwoemshop.

im sure something can be done to add more to the base of the spoiler but idk what kind of height/tilt you're looking to add.

 

how would you tilt it? and why would you want to?

 

I installed mine last Thursday. Very easy install. You need two people though, so one can hold up the end of the spoiler while the other places it on the glass in the right position.

The instructions say to start in the middle of the window and work to either side, but my spoiler fit perfectly so there was no worry of one side having a larger gap than the other. I was able to start it at one end and make sure that it was snug against the roofline. I then just curved it along the roofline until I reached the far side.

I should mention, I ordered the Honda Accord '03-'05 spoiler, as it seems to be just a hair longer than the TL version. It was a perfect fit, and bmwoemshop said that either the TL or Accord models will work, but the Accord is a little longer. Not by much though.
